Romanian engineers contributed to the largest refinery in Pakistan: “An eloquent example of Romanian-Pakistani collaboration”

Pakistan’s energy industry, especially the natural gas and oil sector, continues to expand, and the country’s largest refinery operates in Karachi, built with the contribution of Romanian engineers. The announcement was made by the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Romania, Ilyas Mehmood Nizami, during a meeting with the president of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB), Iuliu Stocklosa.

“The energy industry, especially that of natural gas and oil, continues to grow, and Karachi is home to the country’s largest refinery, developed with the contribution of Romanian engineers – an eloquent example of the success of Romanian-Pakistani cooperation. Also, other sectors, such as the food industry, registers a constant developmentoffering concrete opportunities for Romanian investors, also supported by the economic potential of a large population of approximately 240 million inhabitants, ranking Pakistan in 5th place worldwide. This size offers both significant opportunities for domestic consumption and skilled labor for investors“, the ambassador declared, according to a press release from the CCIB, according to Agerpres.

The diplomat also emphasized the importance of the IT and textile sectors, appreciating the skill level of the Pakistani workforce and the good command of the English language.

Romania, strategic economic partner

For his part, the president of CCIB, Iuliu Stocklosa, presented the business and investment opportunities that Romania can offer to Pakistani partners, highlighting the benefits of mutually beneficial collaborations. “Romania’s economy has the resources and capacities to provide its partners in Pakistan with competitive goods and services, thus contributing to the consolidation and balancing of bilateral trade. Today’s meeting marks an important stage in the deepening of the economic dialogue and in the promotion of sustainable cooperation between the Romanian and Pakistani business environments, while also strengthening long-term bilateral relations”Stocklosa said.

The two officials agreed to organize economic forums dedicated to the promotion of areas of interest for both states.

Tour of the CCIB Palace

The visit ended with a tour of the CCIB Palace, where the ambassador was presented with the history of the building and the spaces intended for events to promote bilateral cooperation in the economic, cultural and social fields. The meeting was also attended by Gabriela Iftene, executive director of the CCIB, as well as representatives of the Department of International Relations.
