The man from Prahova, who killed his pregnant partner with an ax in front of the children, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Prahova Court. “He didn’t show for a moment that he regretted the act, even more he believed that the victim deserved to suffer this,” revealed the lawyer of the victim’s family.
According to the court’s decision, Munteanu Constantin Marian, 37 years old, was found guilty of aggravated murder of a family member and disturbing public peace and order. The man attacked his partner, aged 22 and pregnant, with an ax with a tail of approximately 80 centimeters and a blade of 20 centimeters.
The court also ordered the payment of moral damages of over 600,000 euros to the victim’s children and relatives. It was also decided to collect the convict’s biological samples for their introduction into the National Judicial Genetic Data System.
The lawyer Adrian Cuculis, who represented the victim’s family, emphasized the seriousness of the act and the defendant’s lack of remorse.
“The man who killed his wife in front of the children in Prahova, using an axe, was sentenced to life imprisonment and forced, albeit symbolically, to pay damages of 600,000 euros to the young woman’s family. The sentence can be commuted after serving 20 years. The case is all the more shocking as the defendant did not for a moment show that he regretted the act, even more he considered that the victim deserved to suffer this. It’s one of the few exemplary life sentences, and I personally consider it a professional victory.” said the lawyer Adrian Cuculis.
The sentence is not final and can be appealed within 10 days.
How the shocking crime happened
The shocking crime took place on June 16, 2025, in the town of Lipăneşti, in Prahova county. Andreea, aged 22, who was two months pregnant, had repeatedly tried to escape from the relationship with Marian, a 37-year-old man.
As “Adevărul” reported, the young woman had returned to her parents’ house, running away from him. It was not the first time he resorted to this gesture. His family said that, on the morning of the crime, the Police had been alerted to a possible conflict between the two, but the man was released.
The young woman was killed in front of her two children and her mother, being hit by her concubine with an axe.
The attack took place on the street, in front of the children and the victim’s mother, and the moment was captured by a surveillance camera in the area. The images were used as evidence in court.
The young woman’s mother told what happened on the day of the crime.
“He took the ax to come at me. I said to him: «Wait, Mariane, you’re hitting the children. Stay well!». When she saw that he hit me with the ax, she ran and shouted: «It’s killing me, it’s killing me»“, said the victim’s mother.
