The PSD National Council decides the fate of the budget. The support of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, under question

The PSD leadership meets on Sunday, at 4:00 p.m., at Vila Lac, within the party’s National Political Council, to discuss the budget, but also the support given to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

The social democrats are also going to decide the question regarding the presence in the government, in an internal referendum.

“On Sunday, as I said, we will decide our actions for next week, when normally we will have the debates in Parliament and the final vote on the budget. On Sunday we will decide whether we will vote on the budget or not and whether we will table new amendments as a group”said PSD president Sorin Grindeanu.

They say that they are dissatisfied with the Government’s decision to only partially include their demands in the draft budget, but also with the fact that the General City Hall would benefit from much too generous allocations in relation to the sector city halls.

“There are a few things that are not caught. At first glance, it seems that the increase in the minimum wage is not caught and is not budgeted. So today, tomorrow, considering that the draft budget was sent last night, colleagues will try to come up with amendments that we can send to the coalition until the budget draft is approved in the Government. A separate discussion is related to Bucharest, that’s why we also called Daniel Băluță to the coalition. We don’t understand why deduct 400 euros for someone who plays on the scholarship, instead of the disabled children. Why fund the Development Bank with 2 billion, instead of what I said earlier.” said Sorin Grindeanu.

Baluță: “These shortcomings will be corrected by the PSD”

For his part, the president of PSD Bucharest, Daniel Băluță, harshly attacked Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, suggesting that the social democrats will try to impose their social measures through some amendments voted in Parliament.

“I guarantee you that in Parliament these shortcomings will be corrected by the PSD, and the budget cannot pass in this form. We have made all the necessary efforts, because the delay is absolutely unacceptable. If we wait any longer, we will not do anything this year either. As such, the deficiencies that we found in this budget law we proposed to correct in Parliament. It took four months until this man, who is holding back the development of Romania, named Ilie Bolojan only managed to raise the minimum wage on the economy. We are talking about a man who never took into account the needs of people with disabilities, preferring, in return, to give money to the stock market. Some things that are at least surprising. (…) A man who, I tell you from the heart of the coalition, believes that mothers who raise their children on maternity leave are privileged compared to other mothers in Europe.”said Baluta.

Bolojan: “If a party in the coalition is not satisfied, it can initiate censure motions”

Ilie Bolojan’s reply came on Thursday, immediately after the adoption of the budget. The Head of the Executive urged the social democrats, if they are dissatisfied with the way the government works, to submit a no-confidence motion.

“For several months you have had this type of discussion. I have answered countless times to this type of question. The most important stake for us is to have this budget adopted, a responsible budget, done correctly for Romania, because it is the basis of the functioning of our country and a signal for the markets, for companies, which will have important economic effects. This is the most important thing. Given that a party in the coalition is not satisfied with the way the coalition or the Government is working, it has the possibility parliamentarian to initiate motions of censure, to do what she deems appropriate, to make proposals and, of course, if such situations arise, we can discuss this issue”, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared on Thursday.
