Răzvan Burleanu is flying towards his fourth term at the head of the FRF. TAS gave him the news he was waiting for

Less than a day before the elections scheduled for Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m., the situation at the Romanian Football Federation was clarified following a decision from the Sports Arbitration Court (TAS).

The Lausanne forum rejected the request submitted by Ilie Drăgan (the founder and president of the 3 Kids Sport club), who had requested the temporary halt of the electoral process. Thus, the voting will take place according to the calendar originally established by the FRF.

According to gsp.ro information, TAS sent an official answer regarding the appeal filed against the candidacy of Răzvan Burleanu (41 years old). In the same approach, Drăgan also requested the suspension of the elections until the case is resolved.

The sports court did not accept the emergency trial nor the blocking of the elections. The file will be analyzed later, without a clear deadline being announced for now.

Under these conditions, the current president of the FRF is as if re-elected. Răzvan Burleanu is running for the fourth consecutive time, after the 2014–2018, 2018–2022 and 2022–2026 mandates, his candidacy being challenged on the grounds that it would violate the statutory provisions. The FRF Regulation states that “no person can hold the position of president of the FRF for more than 3 (three) terms“.

The U21 rule would also be challenged at the Lausanne court by Gigi Becali, the FCSB boss.
