On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the students who will graduate from high school in the summer had to take the second test of the 2026 Baccalaureate simulation, the mandatory profile test. The number of absenteeism increased.
The Ministry of Education and Research announced that the simulation of the mandatory test of the profile – Mathematics, respectively History – within the national baccalaureate exam 2026 was organized in 1,368 educational units (95.87% of the total educational units that organize the baccalaureate exam). According to the data provided by the county school inspectorates, more than 113,100 students were present, approximately 1,500 less than in the first test.
More than 24,600 12th grade students were absent from the educational units that organized the simulation. Six other students were expelled for attempted fraud.
Considering the boycott of the activity by the teachers, in 59 high schools the simulation was not organized, so that 6,400 students cannot take the tests.
The students rated the History subjects as accessible, similar to those proposed for training, and the teachers shared the same opinion.
There were, on the other hand, students who left the exam room after only an hour and a half (this is the minimum time that candidates are obliged to respect, not being able to leave the room earlier), without trying to meet the requirements of the III subject. On the other hand, correct answers to the first two subjects could secure candidates a grade of 7, which many students consider satisfactory.
Many calculations to do in Mathematics
The Mathematics subjects, the Mathematics-Informatics profile, put many students to the test in terms of timing. They had a lot of calculations to do, so completing the test in the three hours available was a challenge, benefiting students who work a lot individually and manage to solve the requirements at a fast pace. The same attempt was made for students from the Natural Sciences or Technology profile, according to the teachers.
The subjects have been written in such a way that a good grade obtained reflects the level of knowledge acquired, teachers say.
“There were subjects that followed the structure and were staged from a minimum mark to a maximum mark. A child who had a steady course was able to handle it. My students found them accessible”said Doina Popa, Mathematics teacher at the “Alexe Marin” Slatina Technological High School.
The fact that the students supported other simulations, organized either at the school level or at the county level, made them organize their time much better. On the other hand, because the grade obtained is entered in the catalog only at the student’s request, the candidates did not feel this pressure, but things, from this point of view, will be different in the exam itself.

What teachers have also noticed is that consistent simulations encourage students to practice and make progress from one assessment to the next.
The Baccalaureate 2026 simulation continues on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, with test E)d) – written test – test of your choice of profile and specialization. On Thursday, March 26, the last test will take place, test E) b) – written test – Native language and literature.
The announcement of the results is scheduled for April 3. The results will be communicated to the candidates individually.
