Exclusively the Centers for large burns in Timișoara and Târgu Mureș, almost ready. Rogobete: “In the summer we will put them into use”

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, provided details on the status of the three centers for the treatment of major burns under construction in Romania. According to the official, two of them could be commissioned this summer, and the children’s center is seeing a sustained pace of execution and could be completed next year.

“The three constructions, the three burn centers, started in 2022. In Timișoara and Târgu Mureș, the buildings are completed, work is being done on installing the equipment, ensuring the flows, the last details. Sometime this summer we will put them both into use”. announced Minister Rogobete, during the “Adevărul” Healthcare Forum.

He specified that the projects experienced significant delays, having been initiated since 2015, and at the time of assuming the mandate, in 2022, all three objectives were blocked. Later, the works were unblocked and resumed at an accelerated pace.

As for the center for pediatric patients, it is built in the courtyard of the Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital. The minister explained that the project experienced an initial delay, but the progress of the works is positive.

“The first and only Burn Center for children, which is being built in the courtyard of the Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital, had some delay, but it is recovering. Work is already underway on the fourth floor. We estimate that next year, in the spring, it will be completed”the Minister of Health also declared.

The official added that he paid a visit to Brussels on Tuesday, March 23, home to one of the largest major burn treatment centers in Europe, stressing the importance of collaboration and exchange of expertise.

“We will include the expertise of the Brussels center for starting the hospitals in Romania. It is very important. We talked with the representatives of this hospital, who showed their willingness to come to Romania, to visit the centers. The medical teams from Romania will come to Brussels to adapt to the most rigorous standards”said Rogobete.

According to the Ministry of Health, these investments represent an essential step for the development of the medical infrastructure dedicated to patients with severe burns, a category for which Romania has so far largely depended on medical transfers abroad.
