The leader of the PNL Olt unleashed, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the PSD, stating that if the social democrats chose to give up their positions in the government, they must withdraw all their politically appointed people in the institutions. “To withdraw all their wrecks from the institutions”.
Gigel Știrbu, the president of PNL Olt, stated, in a press conference held on Thursday in Slatina, that the PSD should withdraw not only its ministers, but also the politically appointed directors in the institutions at the territorial level.
“To withdraw all those from DGSPC who gave disability certificates on the rope”
“If the PSD leaves, withdraw all its wreckage from the institutions. All the wrecks that took the institutions to this area. To withdraw all those from the DGSPC who gave fake disability certificates, on a whim”, said Stirbu. The leader of the Olt county branch of the PNL, Gigel Știrbu, and the mayor of Slatina, Mario De Mezzo, stated, in the same press conference, that at the DGASPC Olt, an institution subordinate to the Olt County Council, prosecutors had been dismissed the day before, in a case that would concern the granting of disability classification certificates in violation of the law, the first signals regarding possible violations of the law being given by Mario De Mezzo from the position of prefect, when he signaled that the traffic police have, over time, fined several citizens for violations committed while driving, in the conditions that the drivers were the holders of severe handicap classification certificates, accompanied by a companion.
Referring to the resignation of PSD ministers from the government, the liberal leader said that “a bag of corrupt pus leaves the table of government”.
There are also good people in the PSD, the liberal also stated, people with whom one can talk, but the manner in which the PSD does politics is to be condemned.
“We are in the 21st century, in 2026, in the age of digitization. It doesn’t work anymore. It is no longer possible to steal with a beret on aggregated eyes in the middle of the town. Let your elbow hurt because of what state institutions say. Culmea, the one who should control you, sits at the table with you, is your party colleague. It doesn’t work anymore”, Știrbu also stated.
“They must all go”
The former, from now on, government partners must withdraw, in addition to the ministers, and the prefects and directors of devolved institutions, Știrbu claims.
“They must all go. You cannot leave the government and stay at the prefecture. You can’t leave… Or they are now professionals. When he calls them from the pen, he calls them political, when he has to go, they are professionals. Well, they are not professionals, because that’s why the system suffers. That’s why. They all have to go.” insisted the county leader, also pointing to several institutions where PSD politicians “they brought their wives, relatives, mistresses, girlfriends, nieces, cousins”. The Pension House and the County Payments and Social Inspection Agency (AJPIS) were among those nominated, along with the DGASPC.
Mayor Mario De Mezzo, for his part, named AJPIS as “the graveyard of incompetent pesedists”stating that half of the employees who left Slatina City Hall after he won the mandate would have transferred to this institution.
“At AJPIS, four years ago, there were two accountants, now there are eight. (…) But do you know that there is a town hall in Olt county where 24 or 29 people have been hired in the last two years and, after they were hired, each character in his part moved the next day to a decentralized institution in Olt county? Do you know this?”, Știrbu also said.
Olt County is one of the counties where, in recent years, despite the fact that PNL and PSD governed together, at the county level the relations between the two parties have been a permanent struggle.
The conflict started with the change of PNL Olt leadership, the former leader, then PNL senator, Liviu Voiculescu shortly after making the move to PSD, accompanied by several mayors and prominent members of the branch.
PSD Ministers – Alexandru Rogobete – Health; Ciprian Şerban – Transport; Florin Barbu – Agriculture; Bogdan Ivan – Energy; Radu Marinescu – Justice and Florin Manole – Labor -, and later the Secretary General of the Government, Radu Oprea, announced on Thursday, April 23, 2026, that they submitted their resignations after the PSD decided, on April 20, that it would withdraw from the government if Ilie Bolojan remains prime minister.
