Paul Răducan died at the age of 58, after a hard fight with a merciless disease. For almost three decades, he was one of the important figures of the Gică Popescu Football School, which he coordinated and developed over the years.
His disappearance deeply affected Gică Popescu, who considered him not only a reliable collaborator, but also a close friend. The president and majority shareholder of Constanța Lighthouse sent an emotional message on social media, expressing his regret for the loss suffered.
“We’ve lost one of the most loyal people I’ve ever known. Paul wasn’t just a colleague or a partner; he’s been by my side for the last 40 years. An amazing friend who dedicated his life to children and football.
“Thank you for your friendship. Moments I will never forget!”
For almost 30 years he led the football school with a passion, dedication and stubbornness that made it possible for this project to exist today. Much of what our school has built is down to him, and for that I will always be grateful.
Have a smooth ride, Paul. Thank you for your friendship, loyalty and everything you left behind. Dozens of memories remain behind, moments I will never forget and a void I will never be able to fill. Goodbye, dear friend!”, transmitted Gică Popescu, on his personal Facebook account.
FCU Craiova: “Eternal rest, Paul Răducan!”
Throughout his career, Paul Răducan was not only active in Gică Popescu’s academy. The coach also had two mandates on the technical bench of those from FCU Craiova, in the fall of 2022 and 2023. The news of his disappearance also caused sadness among the club patronized by Adrian Mititelu.
“Paul Răducan passed away at the age of 58. Paul Răducan was the coach of FCU 1948, always looking for and supporting young football talents.
Until now, he held the position of president of the Gică Popescu Football School and director of the Craiova Auto Technological High School.
