A bear that has been seen several times in recent weeks in the Valea Cetății neighborhood of Brașov was shot on Thursday evening by the municipality’s intervention team, after several calls to 112 regarding its presence in the area.
According to the deputy mayor of Brașov, Gheorghe Dan Dumitru, the call to 112 was received around 9:30 p.m., on Mureșului street, where the authorities have intervened several times in recent weeks.
“There we had countless interventions and countless calls to 112. Last night we managed to extract the bear that was causing so many problems. In addition to going to the containers and trying to open them, he managed to break the lid on two ecological islands. Climb up these eco-islands and try to rip the tins off them to get to the trash bags“, said the deputy mayor.
Brașov City Hall also reported that the animal had previously been captured, collared, microchipped and relocated. According to the authorities, the bear returned to the city and was frequently reported in the area of Mureșului and Carpatili streets in the last three weeks, generating numerous calls to 112.
