Sorana Cîrstea’s journey to Wimbledon ended in the third round, after a dramatic defeat to the Czech Linda Noskova.
The 36-year-old player from Romania, seeded number 17, lost to number 9 favorite Linda Noskova in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-7 (9), at the end of a match that lasted two hours and 18 minutes. Sorana was very close to qualifying, including a match point, but her opponent managed to come back and get the victory.
For the presence in the third round at Wimbledon, Sorana Cîrstea will receive a prize worth 185,000 pounds and 130 points in the WTA ranking.
“Leave me alone, you’re all useless!”
Sorana Cîrstea lost her temper during the match with Linda Noskova in the third round at Wimbledon. In the second set of the match, the player from Romania had a nervous reaction, caught by the television cameras.
At the score of 30-0 for the athlete from the Czech Republic, in the game that would bring her the second set, Sorana returned to her box and spoke a harsh message to her teammates: “Leave me alone, you’re all useless!“.
At Wimbledon, Sorana is accompanied by coach Adrian Cruciat, one of the three technicians she currently collaborates with, along with Artemon Apostu-Efremov and Adrian Gavrilă. His agent, Enric Molina, former tennis referee, was also in the athlete’s box.
