The “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest registers in the July 2026 admission session the largest number of candidates in the institution’s recent history, according to official data published by the university.
For the 1,947 places put up for competition – of which 1,291 are financed from the state budget and 656 with a fee – 6,916 high school graduates signed up, 3,039 more compared to the 2025 session and 2,712 more compared to 2024.
The educational offer for the academic year 2026-2027 includes 985 places in Medicine (725 budget, 260 fee), 274 in Dental Medicine (190 budget, 84 fee), 114 in Pharmacy (94 budget, 20 fee) and 574 places in the Faculty of Midwifery and Medical Assistance (314 budget, 260 fee).
The written test admission competition is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, starting at 09:00.
The Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing attracts the most candidates
The distribution of candidates by faculty shows a significant share of those who aspire to specializations in the field of healthcare. The Faculty of Midwifery and Medical Assistance recorded 3,282 registrations, followed by the Faculty of Medicine with 2,727 candidates,
The Faculty of Dentistry with 800 and the Faculty of Pharmacy with 107. For the first time, for all undergraduate study programs of the Faculty of Midwifery and Medical Assistance, the selection is made exclusively on the basis of files, without a written test.
High competition in Dentistry and Medicine
In the case of study programs that require a written test, the greatest competition is registered at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, where 800 candidates compete for 190 places financed from the budget.
At the Faculty of Medicine, 2,727 applicants aim for one of the 725 budgeted places, 20 of which have already been filled by national and international Olympians admitted without competition.
At the opposite pole, the Faculty of Pharmacy registers the least competition, with 107 candidates for 94 budgeted places.

Study fees for the academic year 2026-2027 vary between 8,000 and 19,000 lei
The UMF “Carol Davila” Senate set the study fees for the undergraduate cycle in the academic year 2026-2027 at:
- 19,000 lei per year for the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry,
- 10,000 lei per year for the Faculty of Pharmacy
- 8,000 lei per year for the Faculty of Midwifery and Medical Assistance.
Upward evolution of the number of candidates in the last six years
The centralized data from the press releases issued by the institution show a constant increase in interest in the programs offered by UMF “Carol Davila” in the last seven years.
In 2025, 3,877 candidates registered for 1,650 places (1,260 budget, 390 fee), and in 2024 the number of those registered was 4,204, for the same educational offer.
2023 brought 3,844 applicants for 1,625 seats (1,245 budget, 380 fee), while in 2022, the offer of 1,623 seats (1,245 budget, 378 fee) attracted 3,497 entrants.
In 2021, the post-pandemic session registered 3,427 candidates for approximately 1,620 places, and in 2020, in the context of health restrictions, 3,326 candidates competed for 1,452 places, the exam being held with social distancing and observing the measures specific to the pandemic period.
