Trade unionists from Education are still dissatisfied after the discussions with representatives of the Ministry of Labor regarding the new salary law. The representatives of the education employees claim that the proposals presented by the authorities do not respect the commitments made towards the staff in the pre-university and university system.
One of the main complaints concerns the increase in wage ratios. According to trade unionists, the discussed proposal provides for the increase of the coefficient from 2.38 to 2.55 for grade 0, but the measure would only apply from September 1, 2028.
“They came up with a small increase in coefficients, from 2.38 to 2.55 at gradation 0, but beware: with application from September 1, 2028 — absolutely unacceptable. That means we have to wait almost 2 more years,” said a union representative.
The trade unionists also claim that other categories would benefit from the salary changes earlier, starting on January 1, 2027.
“Others would enter on January 1, 2027, and we should wait until 2028, September 1. Something like this is, I repeat, unacceptable”said the union representative.
Another issue raised during the negotiations is the small difference between the minimum and maximum wages provided in the grid presented by the authorities. According to trade unionists, the difference would be a few hundred lei at most.
