Several options are being analyzed for the new wage law, both for Education and for Health, political sources told “Adevărul”. The unions from the two fields have formulated budget requests of approximately 8 billion lei and 2 billion lei, respectively.
According to the sources, there are several work options for the salary in education and health, and they will be finalized in the following meetings.
In education, the unions are requesting an envelope of approximately 8 billion lei, compared to the 3 billion originally provided for, and one of the options involves the phased achievement, until 2028, of the requests made in 2023.
In health, the demands of the unions amount to approximately 2 billion lei.
In a post on Facebook, the former Minister of Labour, Florin Manole, stated that the Ministries of Labour, Health and Education must agree on an improved version of the Salary Law.
“The main conclusion of the discussion in Cotroceni about the Salary Law is that, in the next week, the Ministries of Labour, Health and Education must agree on an improved version, check it with the Ministry of Finance from the point of view of the budget envelope and then bring it to the political decision table”he transmitted.
Florin Manole argues that it is incorrect for unions to be blamed for the “blockage” on the Wages Act.
“In three months, the ministries did not agree with each other. It is still possible. There is still time to have a good law, which will also satisfy the public system, respond to budgetary rigors and allow us to attract European money as well.
The condition is that the members of the same government, be it dismissed, take the first step and understand each other technically”
On Tuesday evening, the interim Minister of Labour, Dragoș Pîslaru, declared that, following the discussions in Cotroceni, no decision was made regarding the adoption of the Law on unitary wages.
“To be very honest, no decision was made tonight on whether or not to pass this law in Parliament. The progress made in the last 3-4 weeks was presented”declared Pîslaru.
According to him, the Ministry of Labor will continue the discussions, under the mediation of the Presidential Administration, and in about a week there should be a project that can be supported in the Parliament.
The adoption of the new wage law represents one of the reforms assumed by Romania through the PNRR, and the fulfillment of this objective would allow the unlocking of a tranche of 770 million euros for investments.
