Eligible beneficiaries who have not yet received the teaching career bonus of 1,500 lei net can activate the support measure until December 14, the Ministry of European Investments and Projects announced on Tuesday. The cards can be topped up in November and December, after the extension of the term by GEO no. 43/2026.
The extension applies to teaching staff who were active in the school or academic year 2025-2026 and continue to work in the system in 2026-2027.
Both the validated persons whose cards were issued but were not fed, as well as those identified for whom the cards could not be issued due to errors or inconsistencies, are targeted. In the latter case, the cards will be issued after the problems arising in the validation process have been clarified.
The extension of the period of activation and supply of electronic supports was introduced by GEO no. 43/2026, published in the Official Gazette on October 30.
“Every teacher who is entitled to the teaching career bonus must receive it. The deadline has been extended precisely for this, and the cards can be topped up until the end of the year. I urge those who have not yet activated the measure to do so by December 14. It is money that goes directly to the professional training of teaching staff and, through it, to the quality of the classes attended by students”, said Alexandru Mihai Ghigiu, Minister of European Investments and Projects.
How to activate the teaching career premium
To receive the money, the beneficiaries must activate the support measure by December 14, 2026 at the latest.
Activation can be done in two ways:
– from the Pluxee Romania application;
– by phone, at the number 021 232 99 55, call at normal rate.
The Ministry advises the eligible persons not to wait for the last few days before the deadline so that the verification and top-up of the cards can be done without delay.
What can the 1,500 lei be used for?
The teaching career premium has a nominal value of 1,500 lei net and is granted electronically. At least 65% of the amount, i.e. at least 975 lei, must be used for professional training courses approved or accredited by the Ministry of Education and Research.
The list of courses and that of accredited providers are published on the institution’s website.
The money can also be used for the purchase of specialized books, for expenses assimilated to them and for other purchases necessary for the teaching activity.
This premium benefits:
– teaching staff and auxiliary teaching staff from state pre-university education;
– teaching staff from state university education who have the title of lecturer, head of work or lecturer or university assistant;
– auxiliary teaching staff from state university education.
The measure is regulated by GEO no. 58/2023 and financed from European funds, through the Education and Employment Program 2021-2027. The objective is to support the professional development of teaching and auxiliary teaching staff in the public education system.
