Cher and Ozzy Osbourne among the artists to be included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2024

Cher, Ozzy Osbourne and Mary J. Blige are among the artists who will be included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, informs CNN, quoted by Agerpres. The announcement was made on Sunday in the episode “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night” from the television show “American Idol”.

The artists who will be included in the category dedicated to performers in 2024 are Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest.

Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield have been selected to receive the award for musical excellence.

The names to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were selected from among the candidates announced earlier this year and have “created music whose originality, impact and influence changed the course of rock and roll”, according to the organizers.

Sinead O'Connor, Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey are among the artists nominated this year, but who will not be included for now.

Eligibility conditions

To be eligible for a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination, an individual artist (or band) must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on October 19 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Disney+ streaming platform will broadcast the gala. A special broadcast will take place on ABC at a later date, and will also be available for viewing on the online platform Hulu the following day.
