It's Easter, and on the traditional Romanian table, eggs, muffins, pasca, trobul and lamb take pride of place. Although they are preferred by many of us, they can cause certain discomforts if consumed in excess or chaotically. Dr. Alexandru Nechifor, specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology, advises us how to combine foods, what should be avoided in order not to overdo it and end up in the hospital.

Meals must be at least five hours apart for the body to digest more easily and adapt. In addition, green salad, onions, green garlic, radishes and other vegetables, vegetables and seasonal greens should not be missing from the menu.

Try to opt for small portions

“Small and balanced portions. Try to control your portions and enjoy a variety of foods without overdoing it. A small portion of each dish is usually enough. Sec Easter desserts are delicious, but try to eat them in moderation. You can try opting for smaller portions or sharing the dessert with other family members,” claims Dr. Nechifor.

Adequate hydration is also essential. “Make sure you drink enough water between meals to stay hydrated and help your body digest food more easily. Movement and physical activity are also important. After a meal, take a walk or engage in light physical activity to aid digestion and balance caloric intake”the doctor recommends.

Doctor: You don't have to eat everything in one day!

The specialist also says that it is important not to skip meals to prevent overeating at subsequent meals.

“Make sure you eat regularly and control your hunger before you start overeating. With a little care and planning, you can enjoy traditional Easter foods without overindulging or harming your health. You need everything with patience. You don't have to eat everything in one day. You can enjoy the Passover meal over several days, trying to maintain a balanced diet”is the advice of doctor Alexandru Nechifor.
