The town of Brezoi on the Lotrului Valley (Vâlcea), which became famous thanks to a musical phenomenon less common in Romania and recognized as a tourist destination, will also host no less than five festivals in the summer of 2024.
The mountains of Lotrului will resound with quality music between June and August 2024, in Brezoi Vâlcea, as part of large-scale events, one of which is international: Open Air Blues Festival, Bikers for Humanity Rock Fest, Baricada Folk, Electric Nights and Târgul Lotrilor .

The miracle from Brezoi
He is told “the miracle of Brezoi” or “Woodstock of Romania” – after the name of a legendary festival in the USA – due to the musical phenomenon that was born here seven years ago and that continued and developed despite the pandemic.
“Our growth is organic”also recognizes the initiator of the musical phenomenon in Lotru Valley, which led to the birth of the phrase “Brezoiul lumii”, Mihai Răzvan Mugescu.
“Of all the festivals we initiated in Brezoi, four of them gained weight and shape. The international blues festival started in 2017, reinvented during the pandemic, when we started doing more frequent events despite the trend, the Open Air Blues Festival, is the first of them. The rock festival we organize with the Biker for Humanity Association, led by Cristian Hrubaru, is a different type of event. In addition to fine music, all Romanian rock legends play at this festival, as well as fresh bands. It's a humanitarian festival… We also have Baricada Folk Brezoi, but also Electric Nights – another festival with the most titled alternative rock bands“, promises Mihai Răzvan Mugescu, organizer of “Live Music Summer Camp Brezoi”, a title under which all these events are held.
There is another festival initiated by the Brezoi City Hall, a decade and a half ago – Târgul lotrir – which has meanwhile become part of the “Live Music Summer Camp”, with music for all tastes – popular, party, light – with a component intended for local gastronomy, but also for craftsmen, art exhibitions and sports activities. The name of the event was taken from the land whose name, the local people claim, comes from the lotrii, the outlaws of old, some of whom, such as Breazu, Malai and Ciungu, settled here.
Guests, periods and price of subscriptions
The magic will begin in Valea Lotrului at the end of June, with the Bikers for Humanity Rock Fest 2024. The festival, which is already in its third edition, will be organized between June 28-30, 2024. There will be names like: Phoenix, Cargo , Compact, Antract, Bosquito, Luna Amară, Luipi lui Calancea, Trooper, Bucovina and many others. The subscription costs 400 lei, and camping with a tent or caravan – 53 lei. The first 500 subscriptions have already been sold at the promotional price of 280 lei.
It will be followed by the “Open Air Blues Festival Brezoi”, from July 16 to 21, 2024, known as the largest blues festival in Central and Eastern Europe, thanks to the concerts held here every summer by renowned international artists. A subscription for all six days, “presales”, costs 530 lei, compared to the normal 636 lei that will be available soon. Currently, only six-day tickets covering the entire festival period are on sale. The current price is the best available for access tickets.
This year's guests, hosts of the Late Night Special, will be: Anthony Gomes (Canada), Danielle Nicole Band (USA), Nightlosers (Romania), Albert Cummings (USA) and Kaz Hawkins (IRL). This year's line-up consists of artists from the United States, Canada, Argentina, Ireland, Great Britain, France, Poland, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Bulgaria and Romania.
The musical phenomenon will continue with Electric Nights Brezoi between July 26-28, 2024. The early bird subscription costs 265 lei, and camping for three days – 53 lei. The Line-up does not lack names such as: Man with rats, Vunk and Vița de Vie, with whom many others will perform.
For Barikada Folk, which will take place this year between August 2-4, 2024, the “fast sale” subscriptions are already sold out, there are still a few “press sales”, at the price of 210 lei. During this festival will be present: Mircea Vintilă, Mircea Baniciu, Ducu Bertzi, Vasile Șeicaru, Emeric Imre, Fără Zahar, Dan Helciug and many others.
The Lotteries Fair will be organized this year between August 16-18, 2024. For three days, the locality will dress up in festive attire for the event that promotes the legends of the area, but also the beauties of these lands.
