Real Madrid became the champion of Spain in the 34th stage, after the victory with Cadiz, but without receiving the trophy, because this depended on a failure of the rival FC Barcelona on the ground of the Girona formation, as happened later (2 -4). The federation then informed the Madrid club that it will take possession of the trophy in the next stage of La Liga.
The club from the Spanish capital declared “surprised” and regretted the RFEF decision, stating that, from “respect” against Granada, who could be relegated on the same day, does not want to receive the cup in the match on Saturday, May 11. The reaction of the federation was not long in coming, and after the communications maintained, it was decided that this would happen at the stage of The 36th, in which Real Madrid will face Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, to be able to celebrate with its fans.
Due to the second leg with Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Champions League, which will take place on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid postponed its meeting with the fans at the Cibeles fountain to Sunday, May 12. As they will receive the trophy two days later, the Madrid players will celebrate with the supporters the 36th title of national champion in Real's history with a cup won in one of the previous seasons.
