Among those with a good chance of reaching the European Parliament after the elections on June 9 are both current members of the European Legislature and current Romanian parliamentarians, whose agonized fortunes over the years contain both land and housing, as well as art objects.

According to the last declaration of wealth submitted in 2023, MEP Mihai Tudose, first on the list of the PSD-PNL alliance in the European Parliament, had income in the amount of 89,789 euros salary and 59,922 euros from per diems and travel allowances.
The MEP has an apartment in Brăila, obtained in 1996, and two Mercedes cars from 2020, one bought and one leased. Tudose also declared a stamp collection worth 30,000 euros. In his wealth declaration, there are four accounts in euros, worth 77,000 euros, and two in lei, worth 14,000 lei. The former prime minister also has a loan due in 2025, worth 22,000 euros.
Objects of art, watches and jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of euros
Next on the PSD-PNL list is MEP Rareș Bogdan, who reported an income of 108,900.18 euros in his last wealth declaration, from 2023. The document also shows dividends in the amount of 139,405 lei from Trend Communication SRL, but also a rent transferred to the name of the wife, in the amount of 8,400 euros.
In his declaration of wealth, there are also two inner-city plots, one in Alba Iulia and one in Voluntari, an apartment in Cluj-Napoca, received by donation in 2008, and a house in Voluntari, bought in 2018.
The MEP also owns paintings worth 200,000 euros, watches worth 200,000 euros, jewelry worth 150,000 euros and silverware worth 15,000 euros. His wealth declaration also shows an investment fund of 14,000 euros and four other accounts in euros of approximately 13,000 euros and four accounts in lei worth approximately 300,000 lei. He also owns shares worth 7,000 euros in Banca Transilvania.
Rareș Bogdan also has two loans, one in lei (924,808 lei) and one in euros (62,036 euros), both due in 2037.
Bogdan would get a second mandate, currently being the leader of the Romanian MEPs of the EPP, after entering the European Parliament first on the 2020 list of the PNL.
Also on the list of the governing coalition, the PUSL representative Maria Grapini would also get an eligible place, who in last year's wealth declaration reported income of 90,206.86 euros from her position as a member of the European Parliament and a pension of 91,224 lei.
The MEP has no real estate registered in her name, but in the declaration of assets there is a plot of land, two houses for living and a vacation home in Timiș county, all in her husband's name. Grapini also listed two cars in the asset declaration, a Nissan from 2015 and a Mercedes from 2021. He also has gold and silver jewelry worth 190,000 euros and paintings and sculptures worth 160,000 euros.
In the asset declaration of Maria Grapina, there is also an account in euros with 38,628.05 euros, but also a loan due in 2029, in the amount of 60,000 euros.
Grapini was also minister delegate for SMEs during Victor Ponta's government and obtained his first mandate as an MEP in 2014.
The MEP who invested in cryptocurrencies
Ilie Dan Barna, the first on the list of the United Right Alliance (ADU), had in 2023 income worth 154,160 lei from his position as a parliamentarian.
Together with his wife, the parliamentarian owns two apartments in Sibiu and one in Bucharest bought in 2007, 2012 and 2014, as well as an inherited land in Sibiu. In his declaration of assets there is also a painting acquired in the period 2020-2022, worth 85,000 euros.
The parliamentarian also has 10 accounts in lei and three other accounts in euros, worth approximately 77,000 euros, and one in dollars with more than 50,000 dollars. He has investments worth over 500,000 lei, he granted a loan of 3,000 lei, but he also has a loan worth 202,000 lei.
Dan Barna was also president of USR, currently serving his second term as a parliamentarian.
The head of the PMP, Eugen Tomac, who occupies the third position on the ADU list, declares, in June 2023, income in the amount of 89,788.98 euros from the European Parliament.
The MEP also has cryptocurrencies worth 16,000 euros and together with his wife owns two plots of land, one bought in Constanta in 2023 and one bought in Neamt County in 2022. His family owns a house bought in 2023 in Charleroi, Belgium, but also an apartment bought in 2021, in Brussels, as well as two cars – a Dacia Sandero from 2020 and an Audi Q5 from 2016.
In 2022 he sold an apartment worth 147,500 euros and still has two accounts in lei worth about 20,000 lei and two more in euros of more than 53,000 euros.
Two more loans appear in his wealth declaration, one contracted in 2021 and due in 2041 in the amount of 148,500, and one contracted in 2023, due in 2038, in the amount of 150,000 euros.
The alliance is counting on 6 mandates, so another eligible seat could be taken by Violeta Alexandru, the first member of Forța Drepta on the list, who occupies the sixth position. The last wealth declaration from 2023 shows that he earned 131,392 lei from his position as a parliamentarian, but also a pension of 115,875 lei.
Violeta Alexandru also has an inherited land in Teleorman, an apartment in Bucharest, bought in 2015 and a Honda car from 2007. The MP also has three accounts in lei worth over 150,000 lei.
On his wealth declaration, there is also a loan due in 2045 in the amount of 55,000 euros.
Fortunes of leaders on the AUR list
Another party that would send members to the European Parliament is the one led by George Simion. The list of the AUR alliance is opened by Cristian Terheș (PNCR), who, according to the last declaration of wealth from 2023, had income in the amount of 89,858,94 euros from the position of MEP.
On his asset declaration there are two suburban plots in Zalău and Oradea, bought in 2008 and 2014, but also two other apartments in Zalău bought in 2013 and 2019 and one in Oradea, bought in 2014. On his asset declaration there are also two vehicles , a Toyota Camry from 2016 and a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross from 2020. The MEP has 6 bank accounts in his name, including personal ones, but also for parliamentary offices.
Terheș is currently a member of the European Parliament from the Christian Democratic National Peasant Party, being elected on the list of the Social Democratic Party. However, the MEP resigned from the PSD in 2020.
The next on the list is the deputy Claudiu Târziu, who entered in the declaration of assets filed last year an income of 146,016 lei from the position of senator.
In his declaration of wealth, he also mentions a plot of land outside the city in 2017 in Argeș, an apartment in Bucharest obtained in 2004 and a Hyundai car from 2012.
The parliamentarian also has a bank loan from 2022, due in 2023, in the amount of 42,842.40 euros.
Later he was also co-president of the AUR party, currently being the leader of the senators of the political formation.
