Sebastian Burduja held, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in front of the National Arena, a press conference during which he revealed that, following last year's tender, PMB would have signed a contract for the maintenance of the National Arena with the company that had the most expensive offer, of 14 million lei, a “double cost compared to the previous one.

“The cannon from the National Arena! The Capital City Hall and the 14 million lei contract! We revealed a flagrant case of possible corruption and bad administration in the town hall led by Nicușor Dan! It is about the tender regarding the maintenance services of the National Arena. This is how the money of the people of Bucharest is the mockery of those who are too honest to come to debates in front of the people of Bucharest! The City Hall of the Capital eliminated the offer with the lowest price for the maintenance of the National Arena, absurdly reasoning that the price is too low, although it had been accepted for six years. To top it off, it was the town hall company that was disqualified twice!”wrote Sebastian Burduja, on his Facebook page.

Instead, Burduja claims, “the contract was awarded urgently, between Christmas and New Year, to the company with the highest price, and now, at the end of the contract, direct negotiations are done exclusively with it, without transparency and without explanations for taxpayers”.

“It is clear that the people of Bucharest will pay much more for services that could have cost less. Nicușor Dan must explain how he spends the money of the people of Bucharest, who are the campaign donors and what they have to do with the General City Hall's contracts”, the liberal candidate also sent.

He also added that he will notify, in this case, the criminal investigation bodies and the Court of Accounts.

“As a result of this information that reached us, all these documents, the way in which the City Hall's own company was disqualified twice, the second time on a whim, just to sign a contract twice as expensive and which prejudices the citizens of Bucharest by 4 million lei, all these documents will reach all the competent institutions – and the Court of Accounts and the criminal investigation bodies”concluded Sebastian Burduja.
