The minority shareholder of the Rapid club, Victor Angelescu, announced, on Tuesday, in a press conference that the Bucharest group will not extend the contract of the club's president, Daniel Niculae, due this summer.

“Daniel Niculae is the president of the club until the end of this season, but starting next season he will no longer be the president of the Rapid club. His contract will not be extended“, said Angelescu.
He stated that at this moment he does not have a name ready to take over the position of president.
“At this moment it is too early to talk about a new president. I also had discussions with Dan Şucu. We won't put a president right away, we'll see what happens and maybe we'll bring someone on the technical side, I don't know. At the moment we don't have a decision, we don't have a person to replace him with at the moment. We will see in the summer what we will do“, the express official also said.
The president of the Rapid club, Daniel Niculae, was indicted by the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court, at the end of April, being accused of having paid and helped the leader of the Rapid gallery, Liviu Ungurean, known as “Bocciu”, to purchase and to illegally introduce pyrotechnic materials into stadiums during football matches.
The prosecutor's office announced that it extended the criminal action against two defendants, respectively Liviu Ungurean and Daniel Niculae, in terms of committing the crime of any operations with pyrotechnic articles and complicity in this crime.
