“A year ago, my life stopped for a few seconds at a routine check-up because I received that diagnosis that takes your breath away: cancer. It was the hardest word I’ve ever heard, but also the beginning of the biggest lessons about life, courage and gratitude“, wrote Năstase.
The presenter emphasizes that she is not making her story public to receive sympathy, but to sensitize other people not to postpone the checks.
“I write these lines not out of drama or weakness, but with the hope that they will reach a woman who can put off that check for a while. Go. Schedule it. Don’t wait for it to hurt. Don’t wait for signs. Take care of yourself, like you take care of everyone else.” said Ionela Năstase.
The journalist also admits that she had no symptoms and did not feel that anything was wrong.
“I had no symptoms. I didn’t feel that “something was wrong”. But I went to the doctor, as I do regularly, because I learned not to neglect my health. Prevention is part of my way of being, and I can say with my hand on my heart that discipline saved my life.” shared this.
Although she went through a difficult experience, Ionela Năstase sent a message of hope and gratitude. “Today I am here, strong, healthy, and more aware than ever of the gift of each day. And if you are a woman reading this, do yourself a favor: schedule that check-up you keep putting off. Do it for yourself, for your children, for everything you love. Today I am well.” said the journalist.
At the end of the post, the journalist thanked her husband, Vlad Petreanu, who was by her side, and the doctors who treated her.
“I’m grateful. And I’m here to say that sometimes, a simple gesture of caring for you can make the difference between a sad story and a happy ending. For me, cancer was not the end, but a new beginning. Thank you for being there for me, even without knowing what I’m going through. Now I want to be together in both healing and prevention. Take care. Please.” concluded Ionela Năstase.
