Everything happened at a dizzying pace: on Monday morning, the mayor Cristian Niculae had even announced the dissolution of the team, but by the evening he completely changed his mind. According to Liga2.ro, the mayor personally contacted Todoran, current coach at Măgura Codlea, League 4 team Brașov, to propose taking over the technical bench at Tunari.
Dinu Todoran agreed and left for Tunari
The former FCSB technician said “yes” to the proposal and left for the team’s base on Tuesday morning to finalize the deal. CS Tunari is in urgent need of a new coach, after the last stages were led by the “second” Alin Ilin, who does not have the necessary license to continue as the main.
At the same time, Todoran was also close to CS Tunari in the summer, after the departure of Dan Alexa to Politehnica Timișoara, but at that time the management chose the option of Bogdan Pătrașcu.
For Todoran, it will be the second experience on the bench of a League 2 team, after the five matches led at CSM Slatina, between December 2020 and March 2021.
A new beginning for the former FCSB coach
The former midfielder from Petrolul, Farul, Unirea Urziceni, Victoria Brănești, Botoșani and Voluntari went through a winding path in his coaching career. After successively training Voluntari 2, Voluntari (in League 1), Petrolul, CSM Slatina and even FCSB, Todoran arrived in the summer at Măgura Codlea, a League 4 team.
From there, he is now ready to return to the second echelon, to a team with big sporting problems. CS Tunari ranks 21st in League 2, with only 7 points in 12 matches, and has a hellish end to the year, with five top opponents: FC Bihor, ASA Târgu Mureș, Chindia Târgoviște, Sepsi OSK and Corvinul Hunedoara.
Tunari, among the teams with the most coach changes
By installing Todoran, CS Tunari becomes the third club in Liga 2 to change their coach twice in the same season. So far, both Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț and CSM Olimpia Satu Mare have gone through two changes at the level of the technical bench.
Tunariul started the season with Bogdan Pătrașcu, then continued with the interim Alin Ilin, and now he will call on Dinu Todoran, who will make his debut on Saturday, from 11:00, away from FC Bihor, at the “Iuliu Bodola” stadium.
In December 2020, Dinu Todoran obtained his UEFA PRO coaching license.
In May 2021, Todoran became the coach of the FCSB team. After the defeat suffered on August 16 against the Rapid Bucharest team, Todoran was dismissed from the management of FCSB and refused the offer to stay at the Bucharest club, but in the second team.
