AC Milan, Benfica, Olympique Marseille and AS Roma, qualified in the eighth Europa Conference League

AC Milan, Benfica, Olympique Marseille, AS Roma, Freiburg, Qarabag FK, Sparta Prague and Sporting Lisbon are the qualified teams, on Thursday evening, in the round of 16 of the Europa League football, writes Agerpres.

AC Milan lost 2-3 at Rennes, in the second leg of the play-off for qualifying for the round of 16. Benjamin Bourigeaud scoring a hat-trick for the Bretons, but the Rossoneri move on after the 3-0 victory in the round.

Benfica drew with Toulouse, 0-0, in the Hexagon, but won in the round with 2-1, through a goal scored in extremis by Angel Di Maria, from the penalty.

Olympique Marseille, in the first match with Jean-Louis Gasset on the bench, beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1, after the Ukrainians opened the scoring. In the round the score was equal, 2-2.

AS Roma needed a penalty shoot-out to win against Feyenoord. The score was equal, 1-1, both in the round and in the return leg. “Giallorossi” won on penalties 4-2, although Romelu Lukaku missed. Goalkeeper Mile Svilar stopped two shots and the team coached by Daniele De Rossi qualified.

Feyenoord and AS Roma are facing each other in the European cups for the third consecutive season. “Giallorossi” won the first edition of the Europa Conference League competition, after 1-0 with Feyenoord in the final, in 2022, in Tirana. In the 2022-2023 edition of the Europa League, the final of which was contested by AS Roma, the Capitoline team passed Feyenoord in the quarter-finals, after 0-1 in Rotterdam and 4-1, after extra time, at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Azerbaijanis from Qarabag FK will go on, although they lost at home with Sporting Braga, score 2-3. The hosts scored twice in overtime, although they played in ten minutes. 57. In the round, Qarabag won 4-2.

Sporting Lisbon settled for a draw at home with Young Boys Bern, 1-1, after winning the first match 3-1. However, the Lusitanians missed a penalty on “Jose Alvalade”.

Sparta Prague beat Galatasaray Istanbul 4-1, after it was 3-2 for “Cim Bom” in the round. In Prague, the balance was broken after Galata remained with ten men, the Czechs then scored three times, through Indrit Tuci (74), Lukas Haraslin (80) and Jan Kuchta (90+6).

SC Freiburg qualified after extra time and a remarkable comeback. Lens led 2-0 at halftime, after 0-0 in the round, but Roland Sallai scored a double (67, 90+2), sending the game to extra time, where the Austrian Michael Gregoritsch (99) scored the winning goal and the qualification.
