The light music soloist Adrian Daminescu turns 69 on October 2, 2024. Before his birthday, the artist, a unique voice in light music, made overwhelming revelations in the show “De-a vienta scultelea” (Antena 3) . He spoke about the cruel diagnosis, lung cancer, a disease that he claims he defeated with treatment, with humor, but also with infinite faith, reports Click!.
“You can lose your faith, your hope…”
The great light music artist Adrian Daminescu went through terrible moments in the hospital, because the treatment was not easy at all. However, he found the strength to encourage his scared wife, Dana, who was by his side, day and night, in this unfair fight with the disease:
“I did a lung analysis, they found a malignant cancer, 3 and a half cm, in my right lung, I was at the limit. When my wife heard she got scared, but I told her: “Keep calm, I’m not going to die from this!”. I am very faithful, for a long time, and I said to myself: “It can’t happen to me, because I still have a lot of work to do, to compose, to sing. But, yes, the treatment is terrible. There, in the hospital, you can lose your confidence, your hope. There are even now the sequelae, after the treatment, which is hell on earth! But, with faith and humor, you pass.”
“Done, done drinking!”
Adrian Daminescu also wanted to mention that, following the terrible experience, he decided to give up one of his vices.
“That’s it, the drinking is over, I used to drink more seriously, with all my colleagues, but that’s over too. But I stayed with smoking. And during the treatment, in the hospital, I still smoked an electronic cigarette. This is debatable, I don’t think smoking is bad for you. I have been smoking since I was 7 years old, 61 years old, but cancer is not from smoking, it is from food, which contains chemicals. Now I pay attention to my diet, I also cook,” said the artist.
“Treat disease with a great scythe!”
The optimistic, relaxed attitude helped him in the face of the disease. Moreover, he was with them, with a kind word, and the other patients, diagnosed with the same disease.
“It is an extraordinary disease, to treat the disease with a great slaughter! If you have total confidence in yourself, you don’t die! You have to change, be deep in thought! Those who screamed at night, through the hospitals: “I’m going to die!”, will go first. The patients were still waiting for me in the hospital hallway, they were surprised that I wasn’t afraid, I was still talking to them, encouraging them. But the greatest enemy of man is fear, you don’t have to be afraid. I also had chemotherapy and radiotherapy, they also did it to my head, because lung cancer usually goes to the head. I’m not a sad person, why be sad? I thank God for giving me these angels, the medical staff, the nurses, the doctors. I love them to death!”, said the soloist.
Fans recognized him by his voice
Adrian Daminescu decided to stop wearing a wig after his hair fell out due to lung cancer treatment. He explained, in the same heartfelt interview, what the reason is.
“I decided not to let my hair grow, although at first I saw myself as ugly. But a man is a man, he can walk bald! I’m ok with singing, I’m successful, I had two shows, people were very excited. They didn’t look at whether I had hair or not, they recognized me by my voice“, he testified during the show “De a vienta scultelea”.
