Prime Minister-designate Adrian Veștea provided clarification on his strategy for the Victoria Palace on Sunday evening. In an attempt to quell the revolt in the PNL, Veștea gave assurances that he would not abandon the hard line of reforms promoted by interim prime minister Ilie Bolojan.
“I will have the same government program as Ilie Bolojan. I will remain uncompromising”, stated the News at Euronews.
While the leaders of PNL, USR, PSD and UDMR meet in meetings to determine whether they support him, Veștea declares himself extremely optimistic and claims that he already has a comfortable majority: “I have assurances that we will have more than 240 votes in Parliament”, Veștea emphasized.
Adrian Veştea also said that he had known for four days that he would be appointed, but he specified that he did not want to talk about this because “it was a preliminary discussion, in which the president came up with this proposal.
“From the moment I had discussions with the President of Romania, I had the option of continuing to keep the same governing program, the program assumed by Ilie Bolojan, by the PNL, by the other parties in the coalition. I won’t change any commas. I want the same government program to remain, and I want the same government program that Ilie Bolojan had to remain“, stated the News.
