The supporters of Farul Constanța lost their patience after the poor results of this season and launched harsh criticisms both at Gică Popescu and at mayor Vergil Chițac.
The team is in a complicated situation in the Superliga, occupying 12th place, with the same number of points as Petrolul Ploiești, a team in the play-off position.
In the spring of 2026, the club went through important changes at the shareholding level. Gică Popescu took over the majority stake, and Gică Hagi, Rivaldo and Ciprian Marica remained minority shareholders.
“At the end of a disappointing season, we feel it necessary to speak about those responsible for the chaos surrounding the Lighthouse and the blocking of projects that this club and this city needed. Two names: Gheorghe Popescu and Vergil Chițac.
The first of them, an inert president and newer shareholder with the exchange, managed to turn the Lighthouse into a club lacking direction, vision and stability, while the results on the field became only the natural consequence of the administrative chaos.

We did not expect results, nor did we ask for them. We expected respect.
Respect to the people who have stayed close to this club regardless of results, distances or conditions. Respect to the supporters who were present when general interest in the Lighthouse had almost completely disappeared. Respect for the idea of the club and the identity this team should represent.
Instead, to protect yourself from the responsibility of a possible failure, you chose a coach rejected even at the second division level, in a move that looked more like an attempt to wash your hands. The direction for your future is simple: You either rise to the standards of the Lighthouse, or you leave. And if you don’t understand the moment of departure yourself, we will make sure that you will be constantly reminded.

The second of them, an expert in promises and delays, continues to treat the Lighthouse stadium project as just a good talking point and not a real priority for the city. For 2 years constantly there are new deadlines, new postponements, a vicious circle that repeats itself endlessly. There is no real reason, just incompetence at the top of city hall.
