Alexandru Rogobete, the resigned Minister of Health, stated on Saturday, April 25, that during the ten months of his mandate, the most controls of the last decade were carried out at the level of the Romanian health system.
“Such a large and complex system cannot function properly without discipline, continuous monitoring and real controls. In these 10 months of mandate, we have carried out the largest number of controls in the last 10 years, in such a short period. Because you cannot correct and set a system in the right direction if you do not constantly check it. Together with the control teams of the Ministry of Health and the State Sanitary Inspectorate: 54,447 checks, 2,147 rechecks to verify the implementation of the measures”, Alexandru Rogobete sent in a post on Facebook.
“It is not enough to sign a ministerial order and assume that things will settle by themselves”
The resigned Minister of Health also presented the balance sheet of the checks ordered.
“The results are concrete: 10,741 sanctions applied, 5,896 fines totaling 32.38 MILLION LEI, 182 suspensions of activity, 140 withdrawals of the sanitary operating authorization, 6 closed units. It is not enough to sign a ministerial order and assume that things will settle by themselves, because reality shows us that without control and without consistency, the rules remain only on paper and the system continues to malfunction.
Reform is done through discipline, and discipline means clear rules, constant monitoring and firm intervention when those rules are broken, even if sometimes this is inconvenient or engenders resistance.” the social democrat also said.
“Our responsibility is to patients”
Alexandru Rogobete added:
“I have chosen not to turn a blind eye when the rules are broken, and I will continue to do so, because our responsibility is to patients and to a system that must function properly, not just in theory, but every day.”
