The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) warns, on Thursday, Romanian citizens who are in, transiting or intend to travel to the Republic of Bulgaria that, according to the Bulgarian National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, on November 22 and 23 the neighboring country will be affected by blizzard snow.

A red weather code was issued for Montana and Vraţa regions and an orange code for Vidin, Sofia, Sofia-region, Loveci, Gabrovo, Veliko Târnovo, Târgovişte, Kârdjali, Smolyan, Plovdiv and Haskovo regions.

In this context, the MAE recommends Romanian citizens who have scheduled trips to Bulgaria to carefully follow the situation of flights from the airports in this country, and drivers to drive preventively, at an adequate speed and to have their vehicles equipped for circulation on public roads in the conditions of winter.

Romanian citizens transiting the Ruse border point are advised to take into account the possibility of an increase in the waiting time at the border crossing, at the bridge toll, in the context in which, from July 10, the Bulgarian authorities are carrying out roadway repair works of the bridge over the Danube.

Those traveling to Bulgaria would do well to ensure that they have enough fuel in their car, water, food and that they keep their mobile means of communication in working order.

Also, the authorities recommend the Romanian international cargo or passenger transport companies to take appropriate measures in order to thoroughly organize travel itineraries by taking into account the possibility of registering an increased waiting time when crossing the Bulgarian border and by ensuring the necessary water resources and food for the transported persons.
