PNL President Nicolae Ciucă had a meeting on Wednesday with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during which he advocated for the full integration of Romania in the Schengen area, as soon as possible.

The National Liberal Party supports the nomination of Ursula von der Leyen for Nomination to a new mandate at the head of the European Commission. PNL President Nicolae Ciucă campaigned during the meeting with the head of the European executive to support Romania's full integration into Romania's Schengen area, as soon as possible.

“I showed him that Romania's immediate priority is the full admission of our country to the Schengen Area. In the long term, we want to continue supporting farmers and rural entrepreneurs. We also believe that policies aimed at climate change must be thought from an economic perspective, so as not to affect people more than global warming already does.” stated Ciucă.

According to some political sources, during the meeting, Ursula von der Leyen appreciated the measures taken by Romania to protect external borders.

And PNL president Nicolae Ciucă reiterated Romania's commitment to implementing all measures from the PNRR in order to continue obtaining installments from the PNRR as quickly as possible and the progress at the technical level was highlighted.

The accession of Moldova and Ukraine to the EU and the support of Kiev

Nicolae Ciucă emphasized the need for the rapid integration of the decision taken unanimously to integrate the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine into the EU and welcomed the decision taken this week to establish the negotiation framework.

“In terms of foreign policy, we appreciate the decision to start accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The integration of the two states into the EU will ensure the economic security of the region. The war started by Russia is the biggest threat to Europe, and Ukraine must be supported from all points of view, including by accelerating its approach to the EU”, mentioned Ciucă.

And the President of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, particularly appreciated the support offered by Romania to Ukraine and the fact that we were there from day one offering support to the Ukrainian people.
