Microsoft mogul Bill Gates has given his ex-wife Melinda $8 billion, five years after they divorced over her extramarital affairs and close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Gates donated $7.88 billion to Melinda’s Pivotal Philanthropies Foundation as part of the couple’s divorce settlement, The New York Times revealed.
Melinda resigned from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation that they ran together in May 2024 and suggested that her ex-husband donate $12.5 billion to a new charitable foundation that he intended to establish, writes the Daily Mail.
The $8 billion donation to her women’s advocacy group, Pivotal, appears to be the first part of the proposed donation.
Melinda married Bill in 1994 and separated from him in 2021 after the couple had three children together.
She condemned him for his affairs and close friendship with financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Gates says he deeply regrets his friendship with Epstein, but has long denied any wrongdoing.
