Although it’s only been a week since school started, many students and parents are already thinking about the calendar for the 2024-2025 school holidays. These are five in number, and the first one starts next month, in October. Here is the full calendar.

Calendar of school holidays in 2024-2025
Students will also have five vacations and five course modules this year.
Autumn vacation
The students’ first holiday starts in October and ends in November. It is the autumn holiday that was set between October 26 and November 3. During the autumn vacation, students from the general school, grades I-VIII and those from the high school, grades IX-XII enter. This vacation is part of the first course module that started on September 9 and will end on October 25.
Winter vacation
The winter break, or Christmas break for students, will start on Saturday, December 21, 2024 and will last until Tuesday, January 7, 2025. The break is part of course module II, which will run from Monday, November 4, 2024 – Friday , December 20, 2024.
Ski holiday
The ski holiday, which is also called the mobile holiday, will be established by the school inspectorates in Bucharest and the country. According to the 2024 – 2025 school vacation calendar, this vacation will have 7 days and students can enter free time between February 10 and March 2. This holiday is scheduled between course modules III and IV.
- Between February 10-14, 2025, only students from Bistrița-Năsăud county are on ski vacation.
- In the week of February 17-21, 2025, students from 22 counties and Bucharest are on mobile vacation: Argeș, Bihor, Buzău, Brăila, Bucharest, Călărași, Cluj, Caraș-Severin, Dâmbovița, Gorj, Giurgiu, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Ilfov, Mehedinți, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Teleorman, Timiș, Vaslui, Vâlcea, Vrancea.
- Between February 24-28, students and kindergarten children from 17 counties will go on ski vacation: Alba, Arad, Bacau, Botoșani, Brașov, Constanța, Covasna, Dolj, Galati, Harghita, Iași, Maramureș, Neamț, Satu Mare, Sibiu , Suceava, Tulcea.
The ski holiday is established by each school inspectorate after consultation with parents, students and institutional partners. It was first instituted in the 2022-2023 school year under pressure from ski resort patrons.
Spring Break 2025
The fourth student holiday begins on April 18, a Friday, and ends on Sunday, April 27. These free days are part of the IV course module.
Summer vacation 2025
The big vacation follows the completion of the last course module, module V. It is the last student vacation that will start on June 21 and end on September 7.

Course intervals:
- from Monday, September 9, 2024 to Friday, October 25, 2024;
- from Monday, November 4, 2024 to Friday, December 20, 2024;
- from Wednesday, January 8, 2025, to Friday, February 7, 2025, respectively Friday, February 14, 2025, or Friday, February 21, 2025, as the case may be, at the decision of the county/municipality school inspectorates of Bucharest, following consultations with the primary beneficiaries of education, with their parents/legal representatives and teachers, carried out at the level of educational units;
- from Monday, February 17, 2025, respectively Monday, February 24, 2025, or Monday, March 3, 2025, at the decision of the county school inspectorates/ of the municipality of Bucharest, as the case may be, until Thursday, April 17, 2025;
- from Monday, April 28, 2025, to Friday, June 20, 2025;
Children’s Day, day off for parents
Depending on the 2024-2025 school vacation calendar, parents will also be able to schedule their vacations. But, according to the law, they are free from June 1, Children’s Day. June 1 is, since 2016, a legal day off dedicated to all employees, whether they have children or not.
