Cătălin Măruță will be left without the show that established him on PRO TV, after the station announced that the “La Măruță” format will end as of February 6, 2026.
PRO TV will abandon one of the longest-running and most recognizable formats of its program schedule. The “La Măruță” show, which for almost two decades was a landmark of television afternoons, will officially end on February 6, 2026.
The announcement was made on Monday evening, January 12, through a press release sent by the television channel, in which PRO TV representatives explain that the decision is part of a larger process of editorial repositioning.
According to management, the change aims to adapt the content strategy both for the traditional linear television audience and for consumers in the digital environment, in a media context in constant transformation.
“The decision is part of a wider process of adapting the content strategy, aimed at responding to both linear television audiences and digital consumers, in the context of a constantly evolving media market”, it is stated in the PRO TV press release.
For Cătălin Măruță, the end of the show marks the end of a defining chapter in his career. The presenter sent an emotional message, emphasizing the impact that “La Măruță” had both on him and on the viewers who have been with him over the years.
“There were 18 years when La Măruță was more than a show and became an important part of my life and, I’m sure, the lives of many viewers. We grew together, laughed, celebrated, learned and discovered the extraordinary stories of our guests. For me, this was a wonderful chapter, which will always hold a special place in my soul. Now I am curious and look forward to the period ahead, going to dedicate my time to more projects in the online area and new formats that I wanted to develop. I am deeply grateful to the team and the audience who have been with me every day of this journey and I thank them for every moment they have shared with me.” said Cătălin Măruță.
For its part, the management of PRO TV emphasizes that the abandonment of the format does not represent a break, but a natural stage in a larger process of transformation. The CEO of the station, Aleksandras Cesnavicius, highlighted the important role that the show had in the history of television in Romania.
“La Măruță was a unique format on the Romanian television market and an important part of PRO TV’s history. We are grateful to the team and Cătălin Măruță for their outstanding contribution. This change is not a separation, but follows a natural evolution, part of a wider content transformation that we will implement in the coming period”, said Aleksandras Cesnavicius.
