I don't know if I will run for president. I have not decided this. I think that, first and foremost, I have to decide it with my colleagues, but also with myself“, said the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, at the PSD Iași election conference.

On the other hand, the PSD leader pleaded for a head of state to build. “DWhat do I want? I want a president who builds. We wasted too much time arguing. I was seeing how far the numbness could go. Last night, with all colleagues from Bucharest and from you, we were happy that we did not enter an area of macroeconomic instability, when a company had the intention of taking a substantial amount from Romania. Compensation for Montana Tomato. And we breathed a sigh of reliefMarcel Ciolacu pointed out, adding that following the decision on Roșia Montană there will be funds for investments from the government calendar.

The PSD leader emphasized that the PSD must come up with suitable people for the positions and that in politics the evaluation should be based on performance. “If you are corrupt, you go home. If you don't perform, you go home (…) We have to learn as political people where the red line is and the difference between a political person and a statesman. Let's stop holding positions with our hands”Marcel Ciolacu also stated.

Call for internal peace

The PSD president also tried to stop the internal conflicts in Iași, where there are disputes between several leaders.

I would like to address the former president Maricel Popa, an exceptional administrator, a man who, out of modesty, did not sufficiently communicate his achievements and projects. He is my colleague, our colleague, the former president whom I respect a lot (…) We cannot make a team in a negative atmosphere. I ask my colleague Vasile (no – Cîtea) to shake his hand and close any discussion from this moment.“, said Ciolacu referring to the conflict between senator Maricel Popa and deputy Vasile Cîtea.
