Crin Antonescu denies any involvement in the appearance of the controversial photos with Nicușor Dan, Victor Ponta and Florian Coldea just a few days before the first round of the presidential elections, after the emergence of information regarding the possible involvement of the liberals.
The former candidate for the presidential elections Crin Antonescu, supported in 2025 by PSD, PNL and UDMR, offered the first public reaction after part of the media reported that the photos with Nicușor Dan, Victor Ponta and Florian Coldea, made public during the election campaign by Elena Lasconi, would have been, in fact, a stage set up by liberals.
Crin Antonescu wanted to point out that these materials did not bring him any electoral benefit and emphasized that their appearance would have affected the votes of other candidates.
“In principle, Ms. Lasconi lost some votes that probably went to Nicușor Dan. So, in no way did this issue benefit me,” declared Crin Antonescu.
In a statement given to DC News, Crin Antonescu denied any connection with the images made public just a few days before the first round of the elections.
“I saw what happened in the election campaign at that time. I have no idea about the information that appears in G4Media on the sources, I have nothing to comment on. the name there I have no idea, I have never heard them in my life. I had nothing to do with this matter. I don’t know what else I could tell you, because I don’t have… If I remember correctly, I think Mrs. Lasconi produced that video. It didn’t help me in any way in the election campaign, because Mrs. Lasconi produced this matter.

The controversy of the photos with Nicușor Dan, Florian Coldea and Victor Ponta
It is about the controversial photos published by Elena Lasconi on Facebook three days before the first round of the presidential elections on May 4, 2025, which showed an alleged meeting between Nicușor Dan, Florian Coldea and Victor Ponta, which would have taken place in December 2024, after the annulment of the elections.
At the time, both Nicușor Dan and Victor Ponta denied the existence of such a meeting.
The publication of the images caused controversy, especially since, according to the AtlasIntel survey of May 2, 2025, just two days before the elections, the fight was tight: George Simion was credited with 30.2% of voting intentions, Crin Antonescu with 24.3%, Nicușor Dan with 22.4%, Victor Ponta with 11.3%, and Elena Lasconi with 6.3%.
Sources cited by G4Media claimed that the operation was ordered by the liberals who supported Antonescu and carried out with characters previously involved in Nicușor Dan’s campaign and that DIICOT prosecutors later interviewed people involved in the filming: Bicuti Andrei-Gabriel, administrator of SC Training Private Group SRL, and his father, Bicuti Gheorghe-Liviu, who would have coordinated the making of the video material since the beginning of April 2025.
