The journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu launched a series of harsh criticisms against the presidential counselor Dragoș Anastasiu, following his statements about the publication of the dignitaries.
Invited to B1 TV on Friday, May 30, CTP commented in extremely sharp terms the position expressed by Dragoş Anastasiu, who claimed that “We have to get rid of this stupidity with the declaration of wealth put in public.”
The declaration of the presidential counselor comes against the background of a recent decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania, which has established that these statements must no longer be made public or include the income or goods of the spouses and children of the dignitaries.
Cristian Tudor Popescu considers the statement a direct affront to the citizens.
“At the level of the simple citizen, you can see this: these rich people with high state functions want to hide what steals. This is the image! (…) And this, Anastasiu, makes all these simple citizens, and you, and me, makes us all stupid! explained CTP.
He also ironically noted the lack of logical coherence in the counselor’s argument.
“Mr. Presidential Counselor Anastasiu has a problem with logic, otherwise everything is wonderful! The fact that he says” is stupid “, that” I do not want to hear this stupidity with the statements of public wealth “,, CTP said, visibly disturbed by the official’s expression.
Next, the journalist criticized the idea that the obligation to publicly declare the wealth would discourage “valuable” people from entering politics.
“Mr. Anastasiu says that capable people avoid politics because they do not want to see their jewelry, houses, lands in a public statement. And if they are no longer obliged to declare their wealth, these people would go in politics and do wonders for the country. If the statement is no longer public, then all these people would come to Romania,” the Ironized CTP on the presidential counselor.
In CTP’s vision, refusal to declare your wealth raises serious question marks
“It will say these themselves, who have a problem in presenting their goods (…), it turns out that he is a man of great confidence, no? A man who runs in this way wants to hide. This, as a matter of logic …”, the journalist also reported.
Finally, the newspaper led sarcasm to the extreme, suggesting what could be the “great losses” for the political scene, given that wealth statements would be still public.
“It is very fair what Mr. Anastasiu says! Here’s what a clean, and efficient, and of great perspective politician has lost in the person of the Lord the wonderful child! But also in The person of Mr. Becali… “, commented the journalist.
At the question of who really disturbed the fact that the statements of wealth were public, CTP had a spit in the characteristic style: “Well, who to disturb? Besides those who actually steal and have to make an effort to complete their declaration of wealth, that they need to know how to lie there, so that they are not caught. This implies stress, these people can get sick because of the stress to lie with art in the statements. You do not have to do the statement now, arrange it, ready for years!
