“There have been many selection criteria for Osaka. But one that weighed the most was about our activity until Acua. What we did from the point of view of the jewelry design, but also the fact that we created a space at the Voicu Galleries, through which we set out to develop and transmit this chew, this job. Contemporary and classic, we have the school, and now we are working on setting up a dedicated library, where those interested, passionate, students can come to read, inspire the volumes gathered by us, in time. The contemporary jewel in Romania will mix at Expo 2025 Osaka mythology with modern technologies

For the designer Gabriela Voicu, the jewelry is also a unique experience that she wants to offer to the public. The collection of contemporary jewel that will introduce to visitors from Japan is called Iuka and is made by Gabriela with her husband, Alexandru Voicu.

The international audience that will enter the Romanian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka will have a unique experience through the unique artistic vision proposed by the designer. The inspiration came from the workshop, where Gabi mixes traditional techniques, mythology, culture and timeless symbols.

In a digitized world, the public of all ages will discover the watermark, email, chisel and engraving and how modern technologies bring together to create unique pieces.

Every contemporary jewel in Iuka has a story itself. A masculine one about the strength and elegance of diamond and sapphire inlays, that of the engagement rings that reinterpret the symbol of the wedding rings and the great story “Cucuteni”, about the Romanian Neolithic culture.

Iuka will teach international visitors the jewelry techniques through interactive workshops at EXPO 2025

Gabriela’s passion to share with the public the mysteries of making a jewel will be transposed into Interactive workshops, which the designer especially thought about this big event.

We will make a lot of jewelry workshops, although we have some limitations unfortunately, because we have to respect their safety conditions. For example, we are not allowed to work with the fire or to work with objects that have the potential to injure the participants. But nevertheless, but we thought and created some special workshops where we will bring some traditional models. That is, we will leave with some already perforated metal plates, and the participants will sew traditional Romanian models on them. This is how visitors will be able to make pendants or earrings with our traditional models ” Gabi says for Live Truth.

The spirit of the jewelry school in Bucharest will also arrive in Osaka. Everything that means the raw material to be made a jewel will be made available by Gabi and will be brought from Romania.

“For two months as we stay in Osaka, we will actually work for 6 days, and every day we will support a workshop. We thought, my husband, because together we team, how to overcome the linguistic barriers. workshops in Japanese. ”
