Destination of the Year brings new categories to the 2024 edition

In the 2023 edition, the competition whose mission is to change the tourist's perspective on Romania collected 300,000 Romanian votes, over 30 million online impressions.

The competition has received the recognition of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism and the Alliance for Tourism as a major vehicle for promoting excellence in domestic tourism, with the award-winning destinations in 2023 benefiting from significant increases in the intention to visit.

This year, the organizers facilitate the registration of several destinations, regardless of whether they are localities, regions and tour operators. In fact, these destinations from different categories receive an equal chance to win a “Destination of the Year®” title in the category they entered.

Categories open to localities or regions:

· Cities that inspire

· Realms with history and tradition

· Eco-tourist regions

· Tourist resorts

· Story village (category supported by Entrepreneurs)

· The best promotion campaign

Categories open to tour operators:

· Amusement and adventure parks

· Cultural-educational attractions

· Wellness

· Epic Lodging – Resorts

· Epic accommodations – boutique

· Gastronomic experiences

· The best promotion campaign

Judging as objective and complete as possible.

This remains a key objective in 2024 as well. The 10 finalists in each category will be pre-selected by a jury of 100+ experts.

Three criteria will form the basis of the designation of the winning destinations that will be selected: a vote of the jury, a vote of the public on and a nationally representative sociological research.

The platform invites Romanians to nominate the most beautiful destinations in Romania and all campaign details can be found in the campaign Regulations, accessed on
