According to CNAIR, until now 30% of the 10 hectares of forest in the critical area of the future highway has been deforested.
On this sector of approximately 8 km, part of section 2 of the Sibiu-Pitesti highway passes very close to DN7.
“As a result of the clearing operations in which heavy machinery is also involved, the risk of trees, rocks and earth masses falling on the road remains high,” CNAIR reported.
“As they arrive on the road area, the contractor’s teams clear the road to be able to quickly open traffic both during the two time windows scheduled during the day (7.30 – 8.00 and 16.30-17.00) and at 20.00 (when it is suspended the works on that day)”, she added.
Traffic in the Olt Valley was restricted
Road traffic on DN 7, Valea Oltului, was closed for a month, starting from July 8, for clearing works, in order to prepare the land for the construction of the Sibiu – Pitesti highway. The cars cannot circulate between 06.00 and 20.00, except for those of the intervention institutions, which will be accompanied by the builder’s crews. River residents benefit from two special intervals to be able to go/return from work.
