Double nomination for Romania at the prestigious European Film Awards

“The New Year That Wasn’t” and “Three Kilometers to the End of the World” have been selected to compete at the 2024 European Film Awards.

The Minister of Culture, Raluca Turcan claims that the two Romanian films represent “a remarkable recognition of the talent and creativity of the teams behind these productions, who have delighted us in recent months with their presence at numerous international festivals”.

“The New Year that Wasn’t” competes for the prestigious European Discovery Award 2024 – Prix FIPRESCI, while “Three Kilometers to the End of the World” is nominated for the European University Film Award.

“These nominations confirm the value of Romanian cinema on the international stage, proving that the efforts and dedication of our filmmakers are appreciated throughout Europe. The Ministry of Culture remains firm in its commitment to support the development and promotion of this vital sector for our cultural identity. I congratulate the teams of the two films for their exceptional achievements, which make us look with pride towards the future of Romanian cinema. We send them all our good thoughts and all our support”, says Turcan.

On December 7, we will attend the 2024 European Film Awards gala.
