Dragoș Anastasiu, honorary counselor of the president for the relationship with the business environment, welcomed the concern of the public opinion on the measures that the new government will take to reduce the budget deficit. In a post published on Facebook Monday, he stressed that many of the proposals published in the public space are, in fact, ideas discussed in the Cotroceni working group.

I appreciate the legitimate concern of the public opinion on the measures that the new Government will adopt to recover the budget of Romania. I notice that many of the ideas conveyed in the public space are, in fact, pieces from the puzzle discussed within the working group reunited in Cotroceni ”, wrote Anastasiu on Facebook.

Critics to public debates

The entrepreneur believes that the discussions focus too much on the origin of ideas and not on their real value: “What it seems to me, however, really worrying is that the public debate excessively focuses on who proposed an idea and too little if it makes sense, how it could be implemented efficiently and with what impact.”

He warns that the disturbing of attention is at risk: “Instead of thoroughly analyzing the necessary measures to correct the deficit, we risk transforming the discussion into an exercise in attributing the merits or, worse, to find the culprits. “

Clarifications on tax transactions taxation

Dragoș Anastasiu wanted to clarify a misunderstanding in the public space, according to which the idea of microtaxation of bank transactions would be assigned: “More recently, I am given the proposal regarding the microtaxation of bank transactions and the related analysis in the public space. I would have prepared to assume both the idea and the text, if it belonged to me. I respect what it means to intellectual property and I cannot validate, not even through silence, practices that hate the plagiarism.”

Anastasiu confirms that the idea was discussed in the working group, but insists that the impact is important, not the author: “This idea was one of the ones analyzed within the working group. It does not matter who put it on the table. The bankers were asked whether or not such an approach makes sense in the current economic context. It is a legitimate question.”

“Romania needs solid solutions”

Its central message is that Romania needs efficient and sustainable solutions, not sterile disputes: “The discussions must be focused on what really matters: the value of ideas, their budget impact and their economic sustainability, not on their paternity. ”

And concludes with a strong message: “Romania needs solid solutions, not sterile disputes about who was the first to turn on the light. ”

President Nicușor Dan, together with his advisers and leaders of parties and minorities, are currently analyzing several variants to reduce the budget deficit. Among the proposals conveyed are the taxation of transactions, VAT increase or a possible solidarity fee. However, the head of state has repeatedly emphasized that these ideas are not final variants.
