After completing the fourth learning module in the structure of the current school year, the students enter the Easter vacation.
Easter holiday 2025. Calendar
The fourth holiday of the current school year is the spring vacation or the 2025 Easter holiday. This year, the students enter free from Friday, April 18, until Sunday, April 27. On Monday, April 28, the last module of courses begins, lasting until Friday, June 20, 2025. After the end of this last course, the summer vacation begins, which will end on September 8.
When does Easter drop in 2025
In 2025, the feast of the Orthodox Easter and Catholic Easter will take place on the same day, on April 20. This overlap is not very common, considering that the two churches – Orthodox and Catholic – calculates the Easter date based on different principles.
The Easter date is determined according to the principle established at the Nicea Synod of 325, which stipulates that the Resurrection of the Lord must be celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full month after the spring equinox. However, there is a fundamental difference between the two calendars used by Christian churches. The Orthodox Church uses the Julian calendar to establish the date of Easter, while the Catholic and Protestant Church uses the Gregorian calendar.
Calendar of the School Year 2025-2026
The Ministry of Education and Research has published the draft order regarding the structure of the school year 2025-2026. In the current form, the project provides 36 weeks of course for most students, organized in five learning modules and so many holidays.
How are the courses scheduled in school year 2025-2026
- From Monday, September 8 – until Friday, November 24, 2025;
- From Monday, November 3 – until Friday, December 19, 2025;
- From Thursday, January 8, 2026 – until Friday, February 6, 2026, respectively Friday, February 13, 2026 or Friday, February 20, 2026, as the case may be, at the decision of the county school inspectorates/of the municipality of Bucharest, following the consultations with the students, with their parents/legal representatives and with the teachers, realized at the level of the educational units;
- Of Monday, February 16, 2026, respectively Monday, February 23, 2026 or Monday, March 2, 2026, at the decision of the county school inspectorates/of the municipality of Bucharest, as the case may be, until Friday, April 3, 2026;
- From Wednesday, April 15, 2026 – until Friday, June 19, 2026.
When the 2025-2026 school year ends for the students of the final years
The students in the terminal years, who have to take the national evaluation, respectively the 2026 baccalaureate exam, will end the school year earlier.
- For the 12th day, the 12th evening and reduced frequency, the school year has a duration of 34 weeks of courses and ends on June 5, 2026.
- For the eighth grade, the school year has a duration of 35 weeks of courses and ends on June 12, 2026.
- For the classes in high school, the technological chain and for the classes in vocational education, the school year has a duration of 37 weeks of courses and ends on June 26, 2026.
- For the classes in post -secondary education – the duration of the courses is the one established by the educational framework plans in force.
What holidays do students have in school year 2025-2026
The five holiday periods are structured as follows:
- October 25 – November 2, 2025;
- December 20, 2025 – January 7, 2026;
- A week in February, at the decision of the school inspectorates;
- June 20 – September 6, 2026.
Each educational unit communicates to the primary beneficiaries of education and parents/legal representatives, until October 1, 2025, the detailed structure of the school year, with the inclusion of decisions for the flexible elements of it.
