Today, during a press conference held in Sibiu, the program of performances for the 33rd edition of the International Theater Festival (FITS) was officially presented.
Constantin Chiriac, the president of FITS and the director of the National Theater “Radu Stanca” Sibiu, entered into a dialogue with the press from Sibiu and the country, he talked about the challenges of organizing this edition and about the novelties that the Festival proposes this year.
Culture lovers have a week to go through the full program and select the performances they want to attend between June 19 and 28.
Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, May 6, starting at 1:00 p.m., both online, on the website www.sibfest.ro, and at the TNRS Ticket Agency, located on Nicolae Bălcescu street no. 17, in Sibiu.

Detailed information about the indoor productions supported by internationally renowned artists, as well as about the large-scale shows scheduled outdoors, can be consulted on the official website of the event, www.sibfest.ro. This period allows spectators to plan their visit with ease, ensuring access to the complex cultural experience that FITS offers this year.
The theme of the edition – SOUL – emphasizes that above technology is the soul, whether it is that of the artist or the spectator.
Almost half of the events scheduled this year will have free access. The price of tickets varies between 50 and 200 lei and, as in previous editions, discounts will be available for people from vulnerable categories.

During the event, the President of FITS also announced the eight names that will be awarded stars on the Walk of Fame. Actors, directors, choreographers and authors will also be celebrated in Sibiu and will remain in the history of the Festival alongside the other 77 names that are already on the Alley. For the first time, the name of a theater will also appear on the Walk of Fame: Yamamoto Noh Theater. The seven personalities are: the French actress Fanny Ardant, the conductor Cristian Măcelaru, the musical director of the National Orchestra of France and the artistic director of the George Enescu International Festival, the actress Ofelia Popii, the master puppeteer Margareta Niculescu, the Belgian choreographer Wim Vandekeybus, the Italian playwright Emma Dante, and the author Elfriede Jelinek, laureate of the Nobel Prize for literature in 2004.

COPIII MEDEEII / MEDEA’S CHILDREN, a show signed by Milo Rau & NTGent, on June 26 and 27 at the UniCredit Culture Factory – Eugenio Barba Hall.
ISRAEL & MOHAMED, a collaboration between Israel Galvan & Mohamed El Khatib, on June 25 and 26 at the Ion Besoiu Cultural Center.
THE ANGEL OF THE HOUSE / L’ANGELO DEL FOCOLARE, a show directed by Emma Dante, a Compagnia Sud Costa Occidentale / Carnezzeria & Piccolo Teatro di Milano production, on June 26 and 27 at the Radu Stanca National Theater – Sala Mare.
SEX, MONEY AND HUNGER / SEX, MONEY AND HUNGER, a Stary Teatr production directed by Luk Perceval, on June 19 and 20 at the Radu Stanca National Theater – Sala Mare.
THE LETTER / THE LETTER, a production of the Avignon Festival, a performance by Milo Rau, on June 27 and 28 at the Gong Theater – upstairs hall.
DESCENDANTS OF THE GODS / INFAMOUS OFFSPRING, choreography by Wim Vandekeybus & Ultima Vez, on June 22 and 23 at the UniCredit Culture Factory – Sala Faust.
VALENTINA, a Théâtre National de Strasbourg production, a performance by Caroline Guiela Nguyen, on June 21 and 22 at the UniCredit Culture Factory – Lulu Hall.
A NIGHT WITH MORRICONE / NOTTE MORRICONE, a dance performance by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto, on June 19 and 20 at the UniCredit Culture Factory – Sala Faust.
LIMBA DICTATURII / THE LANGUAGE OF THE THIRD REICH?, a production by National Teatret Oslo in co-production with FITS and TNRS, on June 24 and 25 at the UniCredit Culture Factory – Lulu Hall.
BAAL – BRECHT’S FIRST PLAY / BRECHT’S FIRST PLAY, a Dead Center & Beijing Repertory Theater collaboration in co-production with Holland Festival, FITS and TNRS, on June 23 and 24 at the UniCredit Culture Factory – Eugenio Barba Hall.
CARMEN and DANCE FOR ME, two passionate shows with Granada Flamenco Ballet, on June 19, 23 and 24 at the Ion Besoiu Cultural Center. The acclaimed TNRS shows will not be missing either, led by FAUST (June 27 and 28 and THE STORY OF THE DARK PRINCESS (June 19).
This year, during the Festival, Sibiu will also host the general meeting of the Circostrada network, of which FITS has been a part for several years. Some of the most important open-air theater and circus companies will be present in Sibiu, and many of them will hold performances in Piaţa Mare, Piaţa Mică, on the pedestrian Bălcescu or Piaţa Habermann.
The next FITS press conference will take place on May 28 and will focus on the Festival’s partners and the special events included in the program.
