Classical music lovers can already purchase tickets for the recitals and symphonic concerts that will take place between August 31 and September 27, 2024 at the Romanian Athenaeum, as part of the 19th edition of the “George Enescu” International Competition.

Maestro Cristian Măcelaru, artistic director of the George Enescu International Festival and Competition, proposes 6 recitals and 5 symphonic concerts for this year's edition of the competition. An artistic royalty supported by great masters of the international scene and laureates of previous editions of the Competition, in an event that is, traditionally, under the High Patronage of the President of Romania.
Country cultural brand and strategic cultural project at the national level, the “George Enescu” International Competition is financed by the Government of Romania through the Ministry of Culture and organized by ARTEXIM.
At this year's edition of the competition, the renowned cellist David Geringas will open the series of recitals within the Competition together with the pianist Mikhail Mordvinov, offering the audience a program entitled “Northern lights”, the famous pianist Lylia Zilberstein and the great violinist Shlomo Mintz will perform solo recitals on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, while the renowned violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky will perform alongside Valentin Răduțiu (cello) and Lukas Geniusas (piano).
Another first-class event of this year's competition will be the recital by one of the most important Romanian violinists, Liviu Prunaru and the winner of the 17th edition of the “Enescu” Competition and the violinist Valentin Șerban, Romanian artists of international renown.

The “George Enescu” International Competition is held at the Romanian Athenaeum
The opening concert of the “George Enescu” International Competition 2024 will be conducted by Delyana Lazarova, with soloists Maria Marica (violin), Benjamin Kruithof (cello) and Alexandra Segal (piano) – winners of the George Enescu International Competition, edition 2022, together with the National Radio Orchestra.
The finals of the competitions will represent moments of maximum interest for the music-loving public, conductor Jonathan Bloxham climbing to the lectern of the National Radio Orchestra for the finals of the cello section competition, on September 10, Alan Buribayev will conduct the “George Enescu” Philharmonic Orchestra for the finals of the violin section on September 16, and Christian Reif will conduct the “George Enescu” Philharmonic Orchestra in the final of the piano competition, on September 22, 2024.
The last symphonic concert will take place on September 27, 2024, at the Romanian Athenaeum. Conductor Cristian Măcelaru, the artistic director of the “George Enescu” International Competition and Festival, will take the lectern of the Romanian Youth Orchestra, together with three of the six young conductors participating in the masterclass of conducting, instrumental interpretation and deepening the study of music, for to present a royal of Romanian-French music in which the public will listen to works by George Enescu, Dan Dediu, Hector Berlioz, Claude Debussy, Igor Stravinski or Louise Farrenc.

Students, pupils and teachers of music schools and universities throughout the country benefit from free access based on their school and work ID, subject to availability.
Also, disabled people with their companions benefit from free access within the limits of available seats, according to the law.
Tickets and subscriptions for the concerts and recitals organized as part of the George Enescu International Competition can be purchased from the ticketing platform www.eventim.ro, but also in physical format, from Cărturești Bookstores, Humanitas Bookstores, Carrefour or Good2Go stores.

The organizers of the “George Enescu” International Competition offer free access to the preliminary stages of all the instrumental sections of the competition, which will take place at the National University of Music in Bucharest between September 1 and 18, 2024, and to their semi-finals, which will take place at the Romanian Academy on September 8 (cello), September 14 (violin) and September 20 (piano), no prior registration required.
