The Rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, and the “România Renaște” movement, supporting NATO’s deputy general secretary, Mircea Geoană, are throwing arrows at each other, after the accusations launched by the former on Facebook.

After Mircea Geoană, former president of the Social Democratic Party, was accused on Tuesday, July 23, by Remus Pricopie of “abused the good faith of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, as he betrayed the trust of all those who supported him over time“, but also that it still uses “NATO insignia to carry out the largest “clandestine” political campaign in the last 30 years“, the “România Renaște” movement jumped to the defense of the current deputy general secretary of the North Atlantic Alliance. The NGO in question addressed a series of public questions to the SNSPA rector, Remus Pricopie.
Later, the SNPA rector’s response came, who claimed, in a post made on the same day on Facebook, that the former PSD leader “reacted through intermediaries“.
“Mircea Geoană reacted today, very “bravely”, through intermediaries. He seems to be bothered by questions about the campaign money collected from his position as Deputy Secretary General of NATO.
But I have bad news: the FBI is guided by a simple rule: “Follow the money!”. I think that DNA has the same principle”says Remus Pricopie’s post.
“It’s different than Ciolacu, Ciucă, Simion”
During the same day, “România Renaște” published on Facebook two decontextualized quotes from an editorial, entitled “Stiăti ca Mircea Geoană…?”, by journalist Dan Tăpălagă, according to G4Media. From these quotes it would appear that the journalist in question supports Mircea Geoană.
“Geoana is something else than Ciolacu, Ciucă, Simion, Lasconi or whoever you want (…) Mircea Geoană still seems the only reasonable option”.
(….) By contrast with the others, Mircea Geoană still seems the only reasonable option“, it is stated in the post of the NGO “România Renaște”.
Instead, here is what the journalist Dan Tapălagă wrote, according to the previously cited source: “Geoana makes full use of the Alliance’s image (and its resources) to wipe away the long years spent in Romanian politics and to pretend that it is something else entirely. The younger ones really think that Geoana, otherwise a talented diplomat, is something else than Ciolacu, Ciucă, Simion, Lasconi or whoever you want. He speaks well, in long, rambling sentences, full of platitudes and empty of content. Like an educated and experienced diplomat, he tells them excellently, but says nothing more. By contrast with the others, Mircea Geoană still seems the only reasonable option. The younger ones don’t know anything about Mircea Geoană’s political past. Those who know, have forgotten essential details over time“.
