Simona Halep (34 years old), double Grand Slam champion and the most titled player in the history of Romanian women’s tennis, has already entered the spirit of the winter holidays and offered her fans a rare picture of her life away from the court.
Retired from activity in February, “Simo” fully enjoys this period, which she usually spends in Romania, with her family and close friends. As usual, she did not hesitate to share with her followers small details that define her outside of performance sports.
Panettone, Simona’s favorite holiday dessert
In a story posted on Friday on the official Facebook page, Simona Halep revealed the dish that is not missing from her Christmas table, panettone.
The Italian cake, originally from Milan, is the former WTA leader’s favorite dessert, known for its fluffy texture and rich ingredients: eggs, butter, raisins and candied fruit.
Although traditionally associated with the winter holidays, panettone has become increasingly popular throughout the rest of the year in modern versions with chocolate, pistachio or creams, but for Halep it remains a clear symbol of Christmas.
Holiday music and small pleasures without restrictions
The festive atmosphere was complemented by music. From the same story it appears that Simona Halep is listening to the song “For Christmas“, performed by Elena Gheorghe, enjoying the dessert with a glass of orange juice.
The day before, the former champion also indulged in culinary delights at a restaurant in Dubai, where she dined with her former trainer, Darren Cahill.
This time, Halep chose a menu that she strictly avoided during her career, a burger and a carbonated drink, a clear sign that, after her retirement, the Romanian allows herself small pleasures without the pressure of the regime of a performance athlete.
