Ianis Hagi pay cut: Scots reveal Rangers’ decision at midnight after tough talks

Glasgow Rangers tried their best to sell Ianis Hagi (25) to another team this transfer window, but the Scots’ plan failed. And with the major league transfer window ending at midnight on Friday, the Glasgow outfit’s bosses have been forced to sit down to negotiations with Ianis and his representatives.

According to rangersnews.co.uk, through this meeting, the Scottish team sought to reduce their financial losses due to Ianis Hagi staying at the club. As a result, the parties reached an agreement for a salary reduction, given that the Romanian international had a contract of 1.3 million euros per season. Far too high for the current level at Rangers and for a player with low return after injury in 2022.

According to Scottish media, now that he has accepted this pay cut, Ianis Hagi will return to Rangers’ first team under manager Philipe Clement. It is possible that the midfielder will be used even in the big derby with Celtic, away (Sunday, 14.30).
