Ilie Bolojan goes to Brussels to discuss PNRR with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan will have a meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Thursday in Brussels. The officials will discuss the current aspects related to the implementation of the PNRR and the priorities of the Romanian Government regarding the future multiannual financial framework post-2028.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan will have a meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Thursday, February 26, in Brussels, to discuss the current issues related to the implementation of the PNRR.

The Government announces that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan will present the priorities of the Government of Romania regarding the future multiannual financial framework post-2028, currently under negotiation, with an emphasis on the cohesion policy, the agricultural policy and the competitiveness component. The objective is the efficient use of European resources for investment projects that stimulate economic growth in Romania.

“The Prime Minister will also meet with Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu, European Commissioner for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Training. On the same day, the Prime Minister of Romania will participate in the high-level event to launch the Communication on Eastern Border Regions, together with the President of the European Commission, the Prime Ministers of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania and the President of the European Investment Bank”it is stated in the Government’s press release.

The executive shows that this communication, to which Romania made an important contribution, is intended to support the strategic importance of the eastern border regions for the European Union and the common European responsibility to support their security, resilience and prosperity.

The event will end with the signing of the Declaration of Intent regarding the establishment of the EastInvest Facility, as a signal of common commitment to translate strategic priorities into concrete support for investments in the eastern border regions, through close cooperation between the EU, international and national financial actors.

“EastInvest is a financing mechanism dedicated to the eastern border regions, which brings together the EIB Group, international financial institutions, as well as national and regional promotional banks from the targeted member states. Romania’s participation in the EastInvest platform will be done through the Investment and Development Bank”, the Government also shows.
