Agent Marian Godină revealed in a post on Facebook that the heads of police units throughout the country received orders “to take for granted” the policemen “who create online content and thereby, they say, would denigrate the institution’s image“. He also falls into that category, given that he posts frequently on Facebook.

He also revealed why police chiefs would be doing these checks.

“What underworld clans and what safety of the citizen? The heads of police units across the country have been ordered to crack down on police officers who also carry out other paid activities, especially those who create online content, and by doing so, they say, would denigrate the image of the institution. So it’s not the fact that a clan enters a hospital in the country’s capital with clubs and hangs themselves that affects the image of the Police, but rather the fact that some police officers post on social networks or do other activities“, wrote Marian Godină on Facebook.

Marian Godină emphasizes that the police chiefs have the obligation to check the extra-professional activities of the policemen and whether they have reported these activities. He states that he has made this report and wonders “when do bosses check subordinates’ posts?“. “During work, on the state money they get for something else entirely, or in their free time?“, says the police officer.

The policeman emphasizes in the report submitted to the bosses: “Through the obligation to fill in this report and following the checks carried out, of a communist type, specific to the Security of sad memory, I consider that my private life is infringed upon. As reported, please review and dispose!“.

The agent from Brașov included in his message a copy of a document that he claims he sent to the head of the Brașov County Police Inspectorate. In that document, Godină mentions that he acts as “online content creator” in his free time and specifies that these activities in the digital environment do not influence his work schedule.

Moreover, the policeman stated that he also performs literary-artistic activities (author of books, stand-up) and that he is invited to various entertainment shows.

I mention that from the activities listed above I obtain the necessary income for me and my family, the only activities I carry out without being remunerated are the missions of the Romanian Police, to which I am often called in my free time and for which I am rewarded with free time which, from unfortunately, it is not accepted at store cash registers.“, he states in the report, adding that this reminds him of “communist type checks“.

The post has garnered more than 9,000 likes on the social network and hundreds of comments.

“I’m always careful what I post”

Compared to Valer Kovacs, the policeman who was subject to a disciplinary investigation after he lent Diana Sosoacă his service motorcycle, but also a policeman’s helmet and took a photo with it, the policeman responded.

I see that many are comparing the situation with my former colleague Valer Kovacs, and I would tell them that it is not the case. I always pay attention to what I post, so that no one has anything to criticize me for. You won’t see me live on tik tok in the uniform of the Romanian Police, receiving roses and caps on my head, like Mr. Kovacs did. Nor should I scream in my police uniform that I would reopen the Doftana prison like Mr. Kovacs did. The poor guy probably has no idea what horrors took place there. You won’t even start posting videos from the missions. So stop comparing me to Valer Kovacs because we are “completely” different, as he would say. I am neither running for office nor will I be interior minister.”, wrote Marian Godină in the comments.
