“Iohannis Law”, one step away from breaking the coalition. PSD: “Liberals threaten to take their toys and leave the government”

After Marcel Ciolacu announced that he does not support the amendment that would allow President Klaus Iohannis to run in the parliamentary elections, PNL President Nicolae Ciucă said on Tuesday that he does not see how he can achieve a coalition with PSD, which he triggered a wave of reactions from social democrats on social networks.

The attacks launched from both camps show how close the breakup of the PNL-PSD coalition seems.

Mr. Ciucă and PNL want to set fire to the country and throw it into the chaos of instability just because PSD does not want to give Iohannis a job. How does that sound?! To break the governing coalition because the PSD does not want to vote for a law for one man is completely absurd. But this proves once again what the priorities of the PNL and soldier Ciucă have always been: Iohannis’ seat. Not the floods, not the investment, not the standard of living. Just let Iohannis’ job card go even after the end of the mandate. Mr. Ciucă talks about all kinds of imaginary understandings. Mr. Ciucă, wake up to reality! Here you are not in the imaginary superhero movies you think you are playing”, Alfred Simonis, the president of PSD Timiș, wrote on Facebook.

Simonis, about Ciucă: “He does what he knows: he retires to the barracks!”

The social democrat added that the only agreement the PSD had with the PNL was related to the date of the presidential elections, which were supposed to be in September “and which you, PNL, voted for in your party. And which you violated immediately after I saved you at the European Parliament”.

“But soldier Ciucă’s reaction no longer surprises anyone. And on the front, and when he received a difficult mission from Iohannis, he does what he knows: he retreats to the barracks!Simonis also said.

Marian Mina: “They roll around angry”

PSD deputy from Giurgiu, Marian Mina, mocked Nicolae Ciucă’s reaction on Tuesday and said about the liberals that “they roll around angry, like petted children”.

“PNL and Ciucă threaten to take their toys and leave the government, because the PSD does not agree to vote a law for a single man! Stupidists or unconscious or both, PNL and Ciucă demonstrate to Romanians, once more, that they do NOT care about people, nor about their real problems, nor about the international situation and that they are willing to sacrifice everything, just so that Iohannis becomes a PNS senator and possibly, later, President of the Senate“.

The PSD warns the responsible leaders of the PNL that breaking the current political partnership and abandoning the government “disqualifies the PNL, not only domestically, but also internationally”Mina also pointed out.

Lucian Pătrașcu: “an unexpected gift for the Kremlin”

And the president of PSD Brașov Municipality, Lucian Pătrascu, reacted on the same social network:

“The PNL is ready to sacrifice everything, just to give Klaus Iohannis the comfort he has become accustomed to, either as a senator or as the future president of the Senate. Breaking the political partnership and abandoning the government will disqualify the PNL both domestically and internationally! Any political destabilization is an unexpected gift for the Kremlin and an opportunity for Putin“.

For its part, the PSD Harghita organization continued, on the same note, the series of messages.

“It is an attitude of appalling unconsciousness!”PSD deputy from Iași Vasile Toma also pointed out.

Ionuț Stroe (PNL): “PSD is the last to talk about political chaos”

The spokesperson of the National Liberal Party, Ionuț Stroe, explained why the PNL no longer trusts the PSD.

PSD is the last to talk about “political chaos” or “lies”, as the representatives of this party say. The PSD’s decision changes, from one day to the next, made with an eye on the polls and in electoral interest, have become a practice that does not lead to consensus, but only to incoherence in governance. After Marcel Ciolacu broke his word again, we can no longer trust the PSD to keep its commitments. Unfortunately, it has become a habit for the PSD to say something and then make another decision“.

Stroe referred to the fact that, in the spring of this year, there would have been a discussion between the president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, the president of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă, and the president of the PSD, Marcel Ciolacu, following which the leader of the social democrats would have declared agreed to support in Parliament the law that allowed Iohannis to run for the 2024 parliamentary elections without resigning from Cotroceni.

“Where is the seriousness?

The liberal says that the subject of the law that allows incumbent presidents to run for office at the end of their term is a proposal assumed by PSD and Marcel Ciolacu, who then thought of making this topic “a political attack and turn things upside down.”

“When coalition agreements are met with lies and shrugs, we honestly wonder where is the seriousness? We have several situations in which the PSD pretends to rain, after promising something – and the most painful case is that of military pensions. PSD promised and then forgot to solve the inequities related to these pensions. Again, before the elections, PSD chooses to go to war with everyone, to hit partners and anyone who stands in their way to power. The PSD wants all the power too much and this ends up blinding them again”, the liberal Ionuț Stroe also said.

“They weren’t in my schedule”

On Tuesday evening, the PSD president Marcel Ciolacu reacted.

“One comment: Neither Mr. Ciucă nor Mr. Iohannis – together or separately, were in my program on April 3! So that Mr. Ciucă doesn’t get confused in the explanations….”, said the leader of the social democrats, according to a message posted on Facebook by PSD.
